Thoughtful acoustic music ranging in style from folk, jazz, blues to Americana.

Biography

As a dual citizen, I also live a bicontinental life these days, with my home base in the US, and a secondary place I call home in Europe for part of the year. This bicontinental outlook has probably always had some influence on my music. My more European roots, though Anglo in nature, are Sandy Danny, John Martyn, Bert Jansch, Beatles, Sting, etc... I also really love some of the French songwriters such as Jacque Brel, Édith Piaf and Barbara. Then in this part of the world I discovered Townes van Zandt, Bruce Cockburn, John Hiatt, Joni Mitchell, John Prine, Emmylou Harris, etc... So, it only makes sense that a little bit of everything mixes into my music.

Lyrics

The Enemy

Written By: Claudia SanSoucie

You've got it bad
You don't hide it from the world
You wear the stakes through your heart
like precious gold
You tar and you feather
and you feel justified
You're the saint and they are
demons in your eyes

Oh, you can't forget
you're living off the pain
the hurt is oh so bad
it's your excuse
but you can't stop the enemy
cause the enemy is you

Your heart clenched like a fist
an eye for an eye
you keep on fighting
and there's always more to fight
Your cigarettes down to ashes
so here's to the burn
of whiskey double down the hatch
then Judas has his turn

Oh, you can't forget
you're living off the pain
the hurt is oh so bad
it's your excuse
but you can't stop the enemy
cause the enemy is you

You've got it bad
You don't hide it from the world
a medal of honor
hanging off every word
you rage and you roar
but it don't satisfy
when the bottle's empty
and your fists
hide your crying eyes

Oh, you can't forget
you're living off the pain
the hurt is oh so bad
it's your excuse
but you can't stop the enemy
cause the enemy is
You can't forgive
you're living off the pain
the hurt is oh so bad
it's your excuse
but you can't stop the enemy
No you can't stop
No you can't stop the enemy
cause the enemy is you

Set List

Length of set depends on venue.
For concert settings I usually suggest two sets of 45 minutes. Covers included in the repetoire usually are more abscure. They are songs that have touched me and that I feel worth sharing and are my own interpretation. The line between songs I've written and songs I love but haven't written is negligible to me. It is all about how I feel about a song and if it speaks to me enough to become a vehicle for it.
