CLAVE MUNDIAL

Sana & Papo (the core of CLAVE MUNDIAL) met on a 5 year journey that became a musical exploration through Latin America and the Caribbean. Most of this journey took them overland through Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Venezuela, Trinidad and Puerto Rico during which time they lived and worked among the people paying their way with their music. Along the way they collaborated with the local musicians, both profession and campesino, listening, learning and making friends with the people and their ways.
After many years of travel the result is the musical form called CLAVE MUNDIAL, a sound no single word or phrase can quite describe. Though firmly rooted in the musical traditions of the Americas and the Caribbean (including Jazz, Mambo, Guajira, Bolero, Reggae, Bossa Nova, Latin Folk, etc.) Sana & Papo have created a sound found nowhere else. It is a vibrant and rhythmical big band sound that is enthralling to both dancer and listener alike. Interwoven with exquisite harmonies are piano, congas, cuatros, timbales, bongos, bambo flutes and much more.
CLAVE MUNDIAL has on going collaborations with master musicians including some of the finest performing artists on the island of Puerto Rico.
Since 1986 Sana & Papo have resided on their eco-farm in the Caribbean Mtn community of Barrio Barreal, Peñuelas, Puerto Rico.
