"Clela Errington Sings up a River"

To carry the river metaphor along, In The Eddy is another great collection of material by a great performer. Like the river she honours, the CD is an ever-changing, ever-flowing entity, safe and sure on the one hand, slightly dangerous on the other. Errington navigates both faces of the river with the ease and confidence of one who has grown up on - and in - it.

"Peak at Country through Lace Curtains"

If you find yourself getting tired of the high-power, mindnumbing sounds of pop radio, grab a copy of Clela Errington's debut CD Lace Curtains, kick back, close your eyes and let her music carry you off to another, more laid back time and space.
Clela, who has been living in the Beach since 1984, has surrounded herself with some of Toronto's finest folk musicians, but she uses them sparingly on this recording. Most often it's just her, her guitar and her harmonica, making some of the most gentle country music around.

"Clela Errington plays Trailside Cafe"

Trailside Cafe is presenting Toronto-based singer/songwriter and harmonica player Clela Errington, tonight 8 - 10 pm.
Errington was once based on the Island and is a well-known performer to audiences throughout the Maritimes. She has developed a unique harmonica style which she uses in her interpretations of a wide variety of folk, jazz and roots material. - The Island Graphic, P.E.I.

"Festival By The Sea"

When singer Clela Errington vocalized during a blues performance at the Investors Group
Opera House, everyone sat up and took notice. The Ontario Performer has roots in Nova Scotia and PEI and attended the festival for the first time.

I was raised on the St. Lawrence river in the Thousand Islands. My sister Wendy came home from Hay River, Northwest Territiories with a cool looking harmonica belt and I was hooked! I learned to play the harmonica while travelling out to Prince Edward Island on Canada’s east coast. As a member of P.E.I. acoustic string band The Rubber Boot Band and vocal duo Dawne and Clela, I performed throughout the Island, in Halifax N.S. and in Newfoundland.

In the early years in Montreal, Quebec and on the East coast, I saw performances by; Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Pass, Gary Burton, The McGarrigle Sisters, Ellen MacLwaine, Willie P. Bennett, Stephen Barry band, Harmonium, Ray Charles, James Cotton, Dutch Mason, Rita MacNeil, Scott Parsons, Ladies Choice Bluegrass Band and Sam Moon

In Toronto, I had classical voice training with Canadian Opera Company member Helga Tucker. Our acapella trio ’ The Spadina Sisters ’ was busking in Yorkville and we were invited to perform at the Mariposa Folk Festival. As member of the Toronto Singer’s Guild, I participated in a vocal workshop with Jon Hendricks and Annie Ross of Bebop vocal group Lambert, Hendricks & Ross.

Heard Toots Thielemans and discovered World Music: Moved by the music of Cape Verde, Cesaria Evora & Cuban vocalist Ibrahim Ferrer. I adapted my harmonica style, more melodic, rhythmic and warm.
