Growing up in the Humboldt Park/Logan Square/Hermosa Park area, Clew Rock first gained interest in music during grammar school; learning basic fundamentals of classical, salsa and jazz from teacher and mentor Mr. Orlando Rivera. He was introduced to hip-hop through graffiti. By the time he was a freshman, sharing a gym class with seniors, you would find him playing basketball or on the sideline kicking cyphers. By age 17, he was using a driving ticket he switched his birth date on to make his way into open mics in almost every local bar and club in the Chicago land area, back when security wasn’t so strict. From then on, the city’s love and support instantly rose as he was dubbed “A Natural” in the booth. Rather it be advanced lyrical content, metaphors, conscious rap, or just off the dome, this kid is a truly gifted emcee. Clew Rock lets his words speak for themselves while others live in a world of fine print.
