"A Mountain Gem"

On attending Clinton's show @ The Eaglenest Complex in Maggie Valley, NC - 9/18/2010.........

This we did last Saturday night and we heard the best country music concert we have ever experienced. The “Coming Home” tour show starred singer-songwriter Clinton Gregory, who lived in Asheville and played in the WNC in the 80’s. Even though Gregory was the star performer of this delightful show, he had each of his band members, except the drummer, sing several songs in addition to playing their marvelous instruments. Gregory also had a seemingly “spur of the moment” singer by the name of Earl Clark pop in shortly after the beginning of the concert. Clark is a long time singer songwriter who wrote songs for many artists including George Strait and Tanya Tucker. He is a North Carolina Native American of The Lumbee Tribe whose larger than life personality added volume and interest to the show. His wonderful voice rose to the rafters...
This was the best two hours of entertainment we’ve had in a long time. Way to go Eaglenest !!

"A SURE HIT"

PRESS RELEASE FROM ROOTS MUSIC RADIO June 16, 2010

Clinton Gregory has just released one hot True Country single to radio.

"In The Meantime" is a country song that truly reflects all the attributes necessary to become a hit record. Clinton Gregory is one of the finest vocalists to release new music in 2010 and I am sure that any true country fan will agree.

When you have a song written by some of the best songwriters in Nashville "Kathy Louvin, Brandon Earl Sinks, Jr" and a great performer like Clinton Gregory behind the microphone. It is very likely that the elusive thing called recording magic will raise his head. It surly did on this track from Clinton's new album.

Bio

MARTY STUART once remarked..."Clinton Gregory is the finest country singer on the planet ".

SAMMY KERSHAW says of Clinton..."What A GREAT country singer".

BILL ANDERSON says...You're preaching to the choir when you talk to me about Clinton, I've been a fan for years !!

Born in Martinsville, Virginia, Clinton Gregory came from a long line of fiddle players. He picked up the fiddle at five years of age, making his performing debut at bluegrass festivals within a year. He came to Nashville at age 12, where his father was playing at the Grand Ole Opry. Clinton was highly encouraged by the greatest influence in his life, his father Willie Gregory, a fourth generation fiddle player who died in 1992. Clinton says of his father, “He taught me to play fiddle tunes the way they were originally written, some 200 years ago. My father had a major impact on my understanding of music, says Clinton. Throughout his youth, Clinton found little else but the fiddle kept him on the straight and narrow and could often be found pickin’ and grinnin’ alongside his father in venues throughout the south. The last time Clinton and his dad played, publicly together was an appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. “Now that's a memory that will stir the soul, hold you, and never, ever let you go”, says Clinton.

Once in Nashville, he was quickly hired as fiddle player for Dennis Robbins, the McCarters and Suzy Bogguss, often winding up on the road for more than 200 days a year. Clinton’s quiet, reserved nature kept many from quickly learning what may be his greatest gift……an incredibly, true, pure, and moving country voice.

Combine his amazing fiddle skills, guitar mastery and a country voice straight from the heart, and you will find the classic example of a pure country music artist with the finest of God given talents.

In 1990 Step One Records signed him to their label. His first debut, a heart-tugging version of the Jimmie Davis classic, “Nobody's Darlin' But Mine” was a highly acclaimed release. What followed was a string of country hits; “Couldn't Love Have Picked a Better Place to Die”, “One Shot at a Time”, and the Top 20 hit, “Play Ruby Play”...which also aired as a hit video on CMT and TNN. Each release showcased the pure talent and traditional country style of Clinton Gregory. In 1992 and 1993 Clinton was named Music Row's Independent Artist of The Year. He went on to have eleven top 100 US Billboard Chart hits. His video, “Writing On The Wall”, a tribute to our American military, received worldwide accolades. Clinton’s talents led him to appearances on Hew Haw, Nashville Now, ET's Midnight Jamboree, Music City Tonight & Crook & Chase. He has taken the stage of theThe Grand Ole Opry 28 times, did an amazing performance with Neil Young in The Heart of Gold Documentary and played The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, to name just a few. Clinton has toured with some of country music’s greatest legends and has wooed country fans all over the world.

Now signed to Twang Thang Music in Nashville, Clinton has just released his first new single in many years. “In The Meantime” is sure to be a hit !

Clinton continues to keep his audiences intrigued, entertained, and totally satisfied. Be it on tour with the likes of the legendary Gene Watson or gracing the stages of venues throughout the world, Clinton continues to warm the hearts of true country music lovers everywhere.
