Biography

Bio for Philip Clinton Riddle, and promo for the CD, *Watchers of the Wood*

I am a solo acoustic artist but have preformed with several bands through the seventies and eighties. I won the song-writing contest at the Haines fair In Alaska in 1992.

I opened the next night for Taj Mahal .

I received a standing ovation from a crowd of over 800 at the 20th annual Alaska folk festival for my song Watchers of the Wood, which is now the title of my CD.

I have written all the material for my second CD and plan to record it this September, 2004

Lyrics

wish upon a star

Written By: Philip Kentuck Riddle

There's a place I go when I'm feeling low where I can be free and no one bothers me, just beyond the clouds but further than the sun, that's where I go when I need to run

Wish upon a star find out who we are take the time to be all that we can be follow all our dreams though they may take us a far and don't forget to wish upon a star

Counting back the years when I was a kid, sitting with my pole by the Ohio tugging on a kite string fastened to my toe and hoping that the wind would start to blow

Wish upon a star find out who we are take the time to be all that we can be follow all our dreams though they make take us a far and don't forget to wish upon a star

Time it passes by, I’ve heard they say it fly's what I forgot to do I haven’t got a clue all I know is now a days I’m always on the go and haven't got the time to take it slow

Wish upon a star find out who we are take the time to be all that we can be follow all our dreams though they may take us a far and don't forget to wish upon a star

Follow all your dreams though they may take you a far and don't forget to wish upon a star

My Farewell

Written By: Philip Clinton Riddle

I am on the road again I don’t know where I’ll go
I cannot fight this feeling deep down in my soul
It’s been too long now since I’ve heard the highway call
Chorus: Sounds like a whistle…could be a train…maybe It’s thunder…maybe It’s rain…
Falling from the heavens…giving me sign…maybe just a part of life that I’ve left behind
All I know is the thread of life is thinner than we know
Chorus: Feel’s like a windmill…turning in time…smells like the scent of sea or berries from the vine…
Voice leads to instrumental guitar break:
Take me to the mountain…teach me how to fly…let me be a part of life…before it passes by
And if love is locked inside my heart…let music be the key
Chorus: Flows like a river…Cut’s like a knife…exposes every part of me that’s been hidden in this life
Oh I have felt this calling…for longer than I’ll say…doesn’t matter any more…the prices I must pay
And if by chance I loose my way on the journey I’ve begun
Chorus: look for a stranger…with yearning in his eye’s…maybe he’s a part of you that you cannot recognize…and listen for the sound of strings that will not leave your head
I am on the road again…it means I’m leaving friends…the only question for me now…is where do I begin
A pocket full of nickels…and a heart full of songs…
Chorus: I can see a rainbow…wishing you were here…I can hear the band playing music to my ears…The angles must be laughing…well maybe just a smile… they give me strength and guidance…that last me for a while
For I have been so weary…feeling kind of down…guess I thought when I said goodbye…there would be no one around
And this is for those one’s that stood…beside me through my pain
Chorus: your playing on my heart strings…never out of tune…like the love and laughter…that is flowing from this room…that candle in the window…the one you lit for me…light it for another…and set their spirit free
Oh I go on the road again…there’s a story I must tell…I’m standing at the crossroads…and this is my Farewell
