KENTUCK – WATCHERS OF THE WOOD: Watchers of the Wood is the debut release from singer/songwriter Phil Riddle. Phil was a commercial fisherman for twenty-five years and is now retired, living in Alaska pursuing his other interests such as music and nature. Riddle writes songs about life using environmental metaphors that gives his lyrics more depth. Another prevailing theme of his songs is that changes can be difficult but in the end things will work out. This eleven-track collection is mainly folk rock but flows into a number of other tuneful directions. Watchers of the Wood has additional musicians who play rock instruments such as the electric guitar, bass and drums to give Phil's songs a fuller sound. Other tracks include string instruments, the Dobro, a Celtic Harp, flute and horns. These extra instruments add diverse textures and tones to Riddle's crisp vocals and acoustic guitar based songs. My favorite tracks happened to be the more up-tempo songs. 'Don't Say It Again' features some fancy guitar work and catchy vocal inflections. The song has a country flair blending with a solid rock sound. 'A La Mode' is a jazzy treat topped off with witty lyrics. Kentuck has created a soulful CD filled with warmth, humor and hope and all profits from its sale will be donated to charity.

Bio for Philip Clinton Riddle, and promo for the CD, *Watchers of the Wood*

I am a solo acoustic artist but have preformed with several bands through the seventies and eighties. I won the song-writing contest at the Haines fair In Alaska in 1992.

I opened the next night for Taj Mahal .

I received a standing ovation from a crowd of over 800 at the 20th annual Alaska folk festival for my song Watchers of the Wood, which is now the title of my CD.

I have written all the material for my second CD and plan to record it this September, 2004
