We have recorded and are in the process of mixing our first official EP. We were lucky enough to have Jay Robbins from Jawbox record us at the Magpie Cage in Baltimore earlier this year and are thrilled to be mixing at this time

Clinton Van Gemert is a new and unique outfit fronted by the vocalist/bassist of the same name. The trio came together in September of 2007 and has since achieved extraordinary creative success. Using an unorthodox approach to performance and instrumentation Clinton Van Gemert recorded its first five-song EP this past Spring. It was recorded by Baltimore-based producer J. Robbins (Jawbox) and is due for release in September.

Ohio native Clinton studied upright bass in college and opted not to rot in a practice room learning classical sonatas and conciertos. Instead, he decided to focus his bass playing elsewhere: he experimented with electric bass in a variety of local rock and psychedelic bands yet no sound struck his fancy. Once he had the late realization that he possessed the gift of singing and sawing away on his double bass simultaneously, he decided to launch his own group. He is presently very stoked about his latest self-titled project.

A west coast born and raised Charles Gray almost fell victim as well to the sad and bleak life of a classical musician. Charles has since recovered from such trauma, done a one-eighty and found fulfillment playing alongside the likes of Clinton and Gregg Giuffre.

Gregg, on the other hand, seems to have had his head on straighter than his other two band-mates. Since day one, he has simply wanted to rock. A New York native and seasoned drum veteran, Gregg has played in more bands than you can count on two hands and can eat more sunflower seeds than two minor league baseball teams with sunflower seed sponsors, no problem.

These three playing under the name Clinton Van Gemert are currently booking shows in Brooklyn and Manhattan and enjoying favorable responses to their live sets and recordings.
