Biography

Corby Leigh began his music career at 5 years old belting out the national anthem in between the automated doors of the local A&P while his mother picked up groceries at the local shopping mall.
The boy loved to sing!
On his 7th birthday his mother bought him his first guitar and he began taking guitar lessons shortly thereafter. Strumming along to songs by The Beatles, Janis Joplin and Kenny Rogers, he quickly realized his love for music and infatuation with becoming a Performer. By age 9 Corby Leigh was utilizing his vocal and musical abilities by performing lead roles in local church & school plays. When he was 11 years old he wrote his first song “Music Makin’ Man re-affirming his love for music & developing his passion as a songwriter. At age 13 Corby Leigh took up playing the Bass Guitar and began performing for talent shows and music appreciation nights at the local high schools.

By 1987 Corby Leigh began Classical training at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, concentrating on achieving Grade 8-Piano and Grade 10-Classical Vocal. In 1989 he attended Carleton University to major in music and minor in Sociology. It took two years before he realized that music was actually better interpreted by the heart rather than through the mind and retreated back to his performance roots where the music was live and the moment was real!

Corby Leigh immersed himself in the local music scene. Picking up with local band Way Cool Jr. (later Sister Kaos) they found local radio success with the release of their debut C.D in 1994. Corby Leigh found further successes as the lead singer of various acclaimed Show Bands and Tribute Acts.(The Disco Knights, Superfreak, Rockstasy, Retrobution)

With more than 15 years of live experience, hundreds of studio hours logged Corby Leigh was ready to get back to basics.

In 2002, He reverted back to his roots and began writing songs for his debut New Country album.
In 2003, He played his songs to a hometown crowd at The Corral in Oshawa, Ontario, re-establishing his place as a Singer/Songwriter and re-defining himself as a New Country Artist!

Corby Leigh Kemp is a Powerhouse Performer, Songwriter and Musician, whose Roots Rock sound and New Country style is guaranteed to breathe more life into what is already a thriving New Country scene!

Look out for CORBY LEIGH KEMP and his forthcoming debut C.D. which is guaranteed to be revered as both a celebrated recording accomplishment and a commercial success!

Beautiful

Beautiful
Words & Music by Corby Leigh Kemp
February 18th, 2004

A tough day, nothing going my way
And loneliness has been
a poor, poor guide
I’ve bled away
Nothing left in my veins
I wanna see something beautiful
To feed me inside

As the road unwinds
My thoughts race up to you
And if the sun still shines
to light your eyes
Then I, I gotta drive

I’ll keep driving up ‘round beautiful
Out past the city lights
Follow it thru sensational
Where everything’s alright
Turn left at unbelievable
Turn right at outta sight
Go west towards insatiable
And I’ll be yours tonight

Time flies and I ain’t having fun
Little reward
for all the work I’ve done today
Sleepless nights, Endless days
Where was I before my life got so cliché

As my soul rewinds
My heart comes back to you
And if the moon still shines and love is blind
Then I, I’ll be fine

I’ll keep driving up ‘round beautiful
Out past the city lights
Follow it thru sensational
Where everything’s alright
Turn left at unbelievable
Turn right at outta sight
Go west towards insatiable
And I’ll be yours tonight

Days past, Memories fade
And all I got is the way I feel today
I want you to want me
Together we can make each other beautiful…

As the road unwinds my thoughts race up to you
And if the sun still shines I’ll make you mine and
we can drive

Chorus

Too Cool for Country

Written By: Corby Leigh Kemp

I’ve been around around
I’ve seen a lot of things
I’ve been Hip, I’ve been Hype
I’ve even been Happenin’
I’ve met all the right people run with all the wrong crowds
I’ve rolled with the punches and I’ve rocked the house

Woo…with everything I’ve known
Nothing ever made me feel so alone
Woo…With everything I’ve found
I’m gonna mix it up with a brand new sound...

They say I’m
too cool for country now
I’m trading New York minutes i
n for country miles
My boots are made for walking in
I ain’t too cool for country cuz country is the coolest thing

I traded all my time
for some comfortable shoes
All the time I‘d be wishing for a good pair of boots
You can take the boy to the city
that’s a matter of fact
You put that boy in the country he‘ll never look back

Woo…with everything I’ve known
Nothing ever made me feel
quite at home
Woo…With all that I know now
I'm gonna mix it up with a brand new crowd

Chorus

Not everything is, as it seems to be
Throw out my troubles on a slow southern breeze

solo

Woo…with everything I’ve known
Nothing ever made me feel
quite at home
Woo… With all that I’ve found
I’m gonna mix it up with a brand new crowd…because I’m..

Chorus

I ain’t too cool for Country (x3)
Cuz country’s what I’m livin’ in…

Endlessly

Written By: Corby Leigh Kemp

If you’re looking for a man
Who ain’t afraid to play with fire
When it comes to your heart
you feel a yearning for a burning kind of love
The kind your dreaming of

If you’re looking for a man
Who can bring you to smile
or need a Clown to bring you ‘round from all those places
Where enough is enough
I’ll be a fool for your love

From dark back alleys our to city streets
From bright lights out to where lovers meet
Damn that boulevard of broken dreams
She ain’t got nothing on you and me

I know you got a hold on me
Like needles hang on to the evergreen
All alone with you in an endless sea
It may be crazy but not hard to believe that
The fires been burning right from the start
In every beat of my restless heart
Run away with me to an empty beach
Where every breath it will be you I breathe…Endlessly

If you’re looking for a man
with a long history
Of missing out on everything
And never chasing after his dreams
Yeah baby that’s not me

If your looking for a man
who uses love like a drug
Just swirl it round and
chase it down
Lay back enjoy the ride for a while
Ya Baby, we can get high

I know you got a hold on me
Like needles hang on to the evergreen
All alone with you in an endless sea
It may be crazy but not hard to believe that
The fires been burning right from the start
In every beat of my restless heart
Run away with me to an empty beach
Where every breath it will be you I breathe…Endlessly

I’ll Be Your Superman

Written By: Words & Music by Corby Leigh Kemp

I don’t need no fancy cape
To get my feet up off of the ground
I don’t need to know the latest news
To make my daily planet go ‘round
I ain’t afraid of Kryptonite
And I don’t need no Lois Lane
And I see no valid reason to try and outrun a train
I can’t jump over a building but when the day is done
I’ll be your Clark Kent and your Lex Luthor all wrapped up in One

I might feel pretty fly to to soar thru the sky
Or see parts of your body with those x-ray eyes
I got what it takes if you wanna keep it real
I can be your thigh master, I got buns of steel
Im a straight shooter I’m the real McCoy
If you want a Margarita I’ll be your cabana boy
So c’mon over and love me any way that you can
If you’ll be my Wonder Woman you gotta let me be your Superman

You don’t need no invisible plane
To get me where I gotta go
You don’t need to throw your Lasso if Truth
To make me tell you all that I know
All I know is you’re right for me asn anyone can plainly see
And you can tell it to all your boyfriends down at that Justice League
Spiders and Bats and Water Rats are alright for some
Be my Diana Trevor, be my whoever but be my number one

I would feel less remiss if you would give me a kiss
or let me tie you to the bed posts with those things on your wrists
Lemme dribble off that one piece and we’ll be in cahoots
You have nothingon but the radio and those sexy red boots

Im a straight shooter I’m the real McCoy
If you want a Margarita I’ll be your cabana boy
So c’mon over and love me any way that you can
If you’ll be my Wonder Woman you gotta let me be your Superman

All That & A Cowboy Hat

Written By: Corby Leigh Kemp-Oct 20th 2004

When I go out you know I get around
I like to dip my brush when I paint the town
Ya know I hang the moon every night
When the sun goes down.

You see I’d pay for dinner, ya you know I would
But you gotta draw the line when you look this good.
But I can give you a tip to show you
That I’m every inch a man

You see I’m all that...
All that & a Cowboy Hat
Once you look twice you’ll never look back
Hop on my pony & ride
You see I walk the walk
And I talk trash talk
I put the honky back into the
honky honk
You see I’m all that, & a cowboy hat to boot

I can’t believe my looks have
got me this far
Now I’m the pin-up boy in every cowboy bar
I put the why in country and the dick in Dixieland
Well Keith once said who wouldn’t wanna be me
But he never met me yet so what’s a man to believe
But believe me when I tell ya that
I’m just your average hell of a guy

You see I’m all that, All that & a cowboy hat
Come with me babe cuz I’m where it’s at
We’ll have a hell of a time
The joint starts jumpin’ The jukebox is humming
There’s a party in my pants and everybody’s comin’
Because I’m all that, All that & a cowboy hat to boot

Solo

When I look in the mirror only one thing is clear
The better lookin’ I get, the longer I stare
And by the look in your eyes
I can see that you feel the same
Cuz when you’re standing in the shadow
Of God’s greatest invention
While your looking at me
You really gotta question
If Mother Nature’s master plan was spent
On makin’ me the perfect man

Chorus
