Bio

Corby Leigh began his music career at 5 years old belting out the national anthem in between the automated doors of the local A&P while his mother picked up groceries at the local shopping mall.
The boy loved to sing!
On his 7th birthday his mother bought him his first guitar and he began taking guitar lessons shortly thereafter. Strumming along to songs by The Beatles, Janis Joplin and Kenny Rogers, he quickly realized his love for music and infatuation with becoming a Performer. By age 9 Corby Leigh was utilizing his vocal and musical abilities by performing lead roles in local church & school plays. When he was 11 years old he wrote his first song “Music Makin’ Man re-affirming his love for music & developing his passion as a songwriter. At age 13 Corby Leigh took up playing the Bass Guitar and began performing for talent shows and music appreciation nights at the local high schools.

By 1987 Corby Leigh began Classical training at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, concentrating on achieving Grade 8-Piano and Grade 10-Classical Vocal. In 1989 he attended Carleton University to major in music and minor in Sociology. It took two years before he realized that music was actually better interpreted by the heart rather than through the mind and retreated back to his performance roots where the music was live and the moment was real!

Corby Leigh immersed himself in the local music scene. Picking up with local band Way Cool Jr. (later Sister Kaos) they found local radio success with the release of their debut C.D in 1994. Corby Leigh found further successes as the lead singer of various acclaimed Show Bands and Tribute Acts.(The Disco Knights, Superfreak, Rockstasy, Retrobution)

With more than 15 years of live experience, hundreds of studio hours logged Corby Leigh was ready to get back to basics.

In 2002, He reverted back to his roots and began writing songs for his debut New Country album.
In 2003, He played his songs to a hometown crowd at The Corral in Oshawa, Ontario, re-establishing his place as a Singer/Songwriter and re-defining himself as a New Country Artist!

Corby Leigh Kemp is a Powerhouse Performer, Songwriter and Musician, whose Roots Rock sound and New Country style is guaranteed to breathe more life into what is already a thriving New Country scene!
