Clock Strikes Music

BandRockPunk

"Punk influenced reggae; or is it reggae influenced punk?" Hard, fast and heavy one moment, nothing but groove the next, then into a funk/reggae/rock influenced jam, only to climax into a thundering feedback frenzy that's as close as anyone can get to Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

Biography

Clock Strikes Music are based out of Ottawa, Ontario, and have been rocking the nation’s capital for the last four years. With the captivating sound of their upcoming cd release, in combination with their countrywide tour this summer, 2007 is sure to be a breakout year for the band.

Born primarily a punk rock band, over the last couple of years the group has quickly diversified themselves by incorporating reggae, rock, two-tone ska and afrobeat. Their unified sound features technical rhythms, upbeat guitars riffs, and refreshingly intelligent lyrics that command the attention of all types of music lovers.

Not long after beginning to perform in Ottawa did they begin to garner the attention of audiences and promoters as diverse as their music. Their energetic, passionate, high-octane performances have enabled them to share the stage with varied acts such as Belvedere, Ari Up and the True Warriors, Greg MacPherson, Smoke or Fire, and The Queers. The band has also had the opportunity to play all types of venues and shows as well as being involved in fund raising and charity events.

In the summer of 2006, Clock Strikes Music had the opportunity to try out their touring legs, taking a jaunt across Ontario. This gave the band a first hand look at the sacrifice and dedication required for life on the road as well as a chance to calibrate their live show. More importantly, it provided the fire inside to keep on writing and touring their music.

The band will be seeking label support for the release of their new full length, which is to be released in the spring of 2007 and will give listeners over an hour’s worth of music. The album promises to bring together fast and furious punk rock, infectious organic reggae, and wall-of-sound guitar jams that will surely cater to their eclectic group of fans.

With this as their most exciting recording to date, expect to hear more from this young group of ambitious artists.

*Important Note: The band's official website was completely wiped out recently, taking all show listings with it. Although the band has played many shows since 2004, show information could only be retrieved for the shows on the 'calender' page.

Lyrics

Blindman

Written By: Clock Strikes Music

you can't be mad about it/ see what I'm lookin' at it's lookin' real good now/ and when I think about it/ I'm wonderin' why I'd ever do these things/ I'm wonderin' why I'd let myself allow a piece of solid gold fall to the bottom of the river/or be left out in the cold with no intention to deliver my love/ and the situation's clearer now/ it's your love

don't you forget about this/ this feeling here girl, can never be erased/ and when I think about it, there's many more fish in the sea now, but you could never be replaced/ give this blindman back his sight and let the truth here be recovered/ the smile upon my face is yours, for that there is no other/ your love makes the situation clearer now/ it's your love

And did I mention, it's your love

Love is a long long open track/ now get on board dear and don't turn back/ I'll carry you through the years/ 'Cause in the grand central station of my mind, I had been blind and babe you would have found/ a city of people running around/ a city engulfed in noise and sound/ and as they make their way through the streets/ with tired minds and bodies beat/ never thinking to play for keeps/ not realizing that this might bring them peace/ a peace that's deep within their souls/ a peace complete/ a peace so whole/ a happiness that fills their bones/ never thinking to play for keeps/ now listen up and hear them speak!

Litigation Mania

Written By: Clock Strikes Music

I've said it once before, so I'll say it again/ apparently we're not quite concious yet/ things happen daily out of sight around the world/ from a bay in the West Indies/ torture never seen or heard/ now here's a situation where rights do not exist/ made in China is a marking we are all familiar with/ there's a practice, there's a reason/ a diagnostic selfish bliss/ to supress the true outspoken/ incarcerated as seen fit

welcome to the asylum for the mentally insane/ for political whistle blowers and activists who run astray/ unknown to most, this system put in place/ will cover up social tension and issues fade away/ curtains drawn across bars to keep the sunlight out/ take these pills when given to you/ to free your mind, to free your doubt/ there's nothing wrong here/ this place of peace, this place of health/ there's nothing wrong here except yourself/ where am I now?/ How did I get here?/ this isn't right, no, this isn't fair/ I can't believe I'm wide awake/ I've never been so scared/ watchful eyes drowning in fear/ is this for real?/ or just a fluke?/ this dream's become a nightmare/ this living hell's come true/ a silent protest, a single banner to commemorate/ lives lost on the fourth of june

chorus:
now they're marching through the gates/ parachutes in falling skies/ quickening the pace/ sensoring all minds/ a paralysis with hidden reasons why/ images controlled by state/ make sure you stay in line/ free speech is not a right/ free speech is now a crime/ delusions of grandeur/ thought in decline/ peace and health, you'll heal in time

you've been diagnosed with a mental desease/ there's a spark inside your brain where there shouldn't be/ looked over top to bottom/ but you're fine physically/ rehabilitate is there a cure?/ there's no answer in our plan/ no plan is ever fool proof/ but you're stirring up the pot/ now you're crying wolf/ it makes no sense to see you out there, clearly suffering/ picked you up, brought you in/ as the months turn into years/ the stories are learned/ those who take on the system eventually get burned/ now serving out my time/ my time to be disclosed/ in this case my time, no one really knows/ enduring now, witnessing these horrors/ disrespect for human life/ indecencies ignored/ join the growing ranks of patients who never want to be/ called socially inadequate

now they're marching through the gates/ parachutes in falling skies/ quickening the pace/ sensoring all minds/ a paralysis with hidden reasons why/ images controlled by state/ make sure you stay in line/ free speech is not a right/ free speech is now a crime/ delusions of grandeur/ thought in decline

you can call me crazy/ medicate to stabilize/ political mono mania it's murder out of sight/ you can call me dissident/ violate all human rights/ but litigation mania/ is nothing more than lies

Foundation

Written By: Clock Strikes Music

a declaration of peace is what I'd give to you/ if you would give me the same in return/ if we could plant the seed and let it grow/ the tables would start to turn/ and from here on in/ we'd start our brand new lives/ disregarding the ways of old/ blueprints of peace and trust be built/ through heat and dust then told

because the questions I've asked/ the answers uncertain/ the facts are not lost/ concealed behind curtain/ if you open that curtain, you will open a door/ what I'm getting at here is that we're heading for war/ start thinking different/ start thinking smart/ our thoughts could change something/ our thoughts could change hearts/ and if our hearts come together like an angelic choir/ we could sing melodies that would heal and begin to inspire

it's time to look what's at stake and see what patterns to break/ it's time to start making changes within/ don't take for granted what's here/ a future planted in fear/ is what the path some have chosen might bring/ collective efforts are needed/ let's come together and beat it/ a peaceful future is what we all want/ stop taking pride in our wars/ our guns and our armies/ stop hiding behind these pocessions we flaunt

because the questions I've asked/ the answers uncertain/ the facts are not lost concealed behind curtain/ if you open that curtain, you will open a door/ what I'm getting at here is that we're heading for war/ start thinking different/ start thinking smart/ our thoughts could change something/ our thoughts could change hearts/ and if our hearts come together like an angelic choir/ we could sing melodies that would heal and begin to inspire

the choice is yours/ you're gonna have to choose/ your voice is yours/ it doesn't matter if we win/ it's gonna matter if we lose/ build a new foundation
