Cloud 8

Cloud 8

BandRockAvant-garde

A Cloud 8 show is a must-see for any lover of eclectic rock music. The music is oriented around groove and poetic lyric. It is a high-energy performance with great musicians, the band leader being this really cool left-handed bassist. Ooh! I get excited just talking about it!

Biography

Ann Marie Harrop has been a long time in-the-scene musician in Austin, Texas. She has traveled North America and Europe playing bass for such artists as Ray Benson, Guy Forsyth and Shelley King and has been cited in the Top 10 bassists in the Austin Musicians Poll. A need to satisfy her own artistic desires led her to depart from these influences to create her own edgy rock project. From this departure, Cloud 8 was born.

The gothadelic sounds of Cloud 8 originated from the songs, lyrics and poetry of Ann Marie. Leading the band with vocals and also playing electric bass, Ann Marie takes her audiences on an audio tour of rock grooves that have led critics and fans to site comparisons to such artists as Grace Slick and Black Sabbath. Her winding melodies bring poetry to a new height of artistic expression. Shows have been cited as having TONS of energy, showmanship and personality that leave audiences panting for more.

Cloud 8 is based in Austin, Texas, and displays the talents of some of the best musicians the city has to offer both live and on the demo recording.

Lyrics

Quiet Acquiescence

Written By: Ann Marie Harrop

Take me inward to receive my dignity
For I fell out the door of the meandering way
The time of the watcher is an era of distrust
For the watch will spring forward without any thrust

Quite Acquiescence streams through the dawn
The flower of justice has just been born

The hues of the rainbow spreading over the sky
Dissolving constraint from my wandering eye
Freeing little children from distraught unaware
For the carpet of freedom flies high in the air

Quite Acquiescence streams through the dawn
The flower of justice has just been born

The spring of the day and the shiver of night
Merge with the coming and the going of light
The light of understanding invading your mind
Bringing forth tranquility that saves the arch of time

Quite Acquiescence streams through the dawn
The flower of justice has just been born

Immergence

Written By: Ann Marie Harrop

The parade of the dawn danced between my ears
A gentle rise from the chaos of the mare
A hell forlorn stake driven into the heart
A bleeding scepter shines in the dark

Euphoria pierces a hole
O’ condemnation abhors my soul
Relinquish control and remove the spear
Games make indentions on your fiery breath here

It burns my will and sucks at my gut
On this captive state a door will shut
For the light of the guardian shimmers on you
And guides the child to a grave there, too

Dig

Written By: Ann Marie Harrop

Somewhere deep within your mangled soul
There lies a victim
Stumbling into the walls you blindly plea
For some recognition
Doubt penetrates your corrupted corpse
And you scream for Exorcism
But because you scream because you cry
There’s will coming to fruition

Dig down deep
Pull out your soul
Cause it won’t be long here

Hanging by the thread of hope that leads
To desperate measures
Choking on the strength that binds you
To your mortal pleasures
Run and hide and seek the soul that lies
Beneath the ashes
A fornicated mind will rise
To find some satisfaction

Dig down deep
Pull out your soul
Cause it won’t be long here
