The best kept secret in music

"Cloud 8 show"

Ann Marie Harrop tonight - at Leeann Atherton's barn dance - took her first steps at becoming a real bona fide rock star. It was the debut of Ann Marie's Cloud 8 Experience (featuring Perry Drake on drums and Jackson on guitar - complete with all manner of fuzz boxes and other distortion devices). Three songs - some compared Ann Marie to Grace Slick, because her songs and her voice are so psychedelic (and her lyrics are aking to beat poetry). TONS of energy, showmanship, and personality. The audience was left panting for more but already drained and speechless. As a guy who kept telling Shelley King to make sure to give Ann Marie a mike to sing into while she was playing bass for Shelley, it was more than gratifying to see her singing LEAD vocals and the very discerning crowd going wild.

"Cloud 8 Demo"

I love your CD. It's nothing like I expected. You have a lovely voice, . . . . .Cloud 8 is gonna grow into something you can really be proud of. Good ear, A-M! I love it. . . .
The lyrics are really imaginative, it's kind of like nothing anybody else is doing that I know of (as it goes.) I like the darkness, and I like the wit. I like the energy. I feel really honored to be in at the beginning of this project. You GO.

Feeling a bit camera shy

Ann Marie Harrop has been a long time in-the-scene musician in Austin, Texas. She has traveled North America and Europe playing bass for such artists as Ray Benson, Guy Forsyth and Shelley King and has been cited in the Top 10 bassists in the Austin Musicians Poll. A need to satisfy her own artistic desires led her to depart from these influences to create her own edgy rock project. From this departure, Cloud 8 was born.

The gothadelic sounds of Cloud 8 originated from the songs, lyrics and poetry of Ann Marie. Leading the band with vocals and also playing electric bass, Ann Marie takes her audiences on an audio tour of rock grooves that have led critics and fans to site comparisons to such artists as Grace Slick and Black Sabbath. Her winding melodies bring poetry to a new height of artistic expression. Shows have been cited as having TONS of energy, showmanship and personality that leave audiences panting for more.

Cloud 8 is based in Austin, Texas, and displays the talents of some of the best musicians the city has to offer both live and on the demo recording.
