The brainchild of Newfoundland natives Jonathan 'Beaver' Sheppard and David Whitten, Country has been described by Complex Magazine as “Montreal’s weirdest rock band meets art project”. With influences ranging from Depeche Mode, Michael Jackson, and Boy's Choirs, to Joseph Beuys, Yoko Ono, and Facebook, their versatile sound and hypnotic stage shows have been captivating and confusing audiences since 2012. Since recording their debut, Failure, in late 2014, they've roamed and electrified underground venues and galleries, from Toronto, Paris, Berlin, to internationally renowned festivals like Pop Montreal, NXNE and M for Montreal. CO/NTRY are currently completing production of their second album, Cell Phone 1, to be released on Montreal's Fantôme Records in early 2017.
