"It is going to be a mundial premiere"

Do not try to find "noucentisme" there, neither pornography. It is a coherent and well planned work, something difficult when you have four different composers to write. Difficult but not impossible, they proved it.
Is it jazz? Yes and no. Their style is in the limit, they use drums and a tenor saxophone, they take advantage of the tuning differences between jazz and cobla instruments. -

"A cobla for the 21th century"

The Cobla Bisbal Jove publishes a new recording, ‘XX', with original themes beyond stylistical limits. They are going to present it next Saturday at the Mundial Theater in La Bisbal d'Empordà.
La Cobla Bisbal Jove –or CBLBJV in the cover photo– recorded eight themes specially written for them by contemporary composers like Xavi Molina –conductor and tenor saxophone–, Carles Marigó, Jordi Molina and Santi Escura, played with traditional cobla instruments but with a jazz flavour like in "El gurú del jaç", the opening theme and a tribute to the Argentinian composer Guillermo Klein. Swing influence is evident in the second theme, "In a good mood" by Carles Marigó, and latin rhythms invade "Barroc & bossa" by Santi Escura. The last theme is a Nanosardana in F Major. - Diari Avui

"The Cobla Bisbal Jove takes a step forward with a new recording, "XX""

Tomorrow al 10 o'clock in the evening the Cobla Bisbal Jove presents its new CD, "XX de la CBLBJV" at the Mundial Theater in La Bisbal d'Empordà. In this concert they will play the new themes written specially for them by young Catalan composers. This is a modern project that proves the modernity of the cobla and its innovation possibilities without forgetting tradition and culture.

The Cobla Bisbal Jove was born in 1990 in La Bisbal d’Empordà (Girona, Spain). Even if its repertory includes sardanes and works for cobla by 20th century Catalan composers, in the last five years they have started new musical projects with a unique and original fusion of Catalan traditional music with jazz, rock and classical styles, that led them to play in international festivals like Barcelona Acció Musical, Mercat de Música Viva de Vic or Torroella de Montgrí Music Festival during 2007.
