Driving under the influence of punk pop as well as folk; Coch Lions is the musical car wreck of Kurtis Rothecker.
Growing up under the barely living sky of Regina, Saskatchewan, he spent most of his teenage years drumming in skate punk bands that were akin to the sound and speed of Belvedere, Choke, and the Satanic Surfers. Once he graduated high school he decided to focus on traveling to film snowboarding parts while his body could handle the abuse and put music on a temporary hold.
Now that he has gotten what he felt he needed to out of snowboarding, he has decided to pursue music as much as he possibly can. Playing guitar and singing under his project Coch Lions, as well as playing drums in I Am Wires (Regina, SK), and guitar in Paper Teeth (Regina, SK).
Drawing equal influence from cynical authors as much as bands the likes of Andrew Jackson Jihad, Ted Leo And The Pharmacists, Tim Kasher, Bright Eyes, Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson, and the punk bands he grew up listening to. Coch Lions rocks you out of your depression and puts you into a new one.
