Coco Forbes

At twenty years of age, Coco Forbes is emerging as a driven young artist with a distinguishable sound. As a multi-instrumentalist and a seasoned singer-songwriter, Coco has already proven a remarkable ability to bring to life timeless music. An independent pop-rock artist who mixes it up with a bit of jazz, R&B, and even some country, Coco is not afraid to venture into different musical genres to express her emotions as an artist. Yet, what remains consistent from one song to the next are Coco’s capabilities to deliver powerful and heartfelt lyrics. Coco’s soon-to-be released debut EP, recorded alongside some of BC’s top musicians, is sure to give her an edge in the indie music scene. 

Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Coco cannot remember a time when she was not surrounded by music. After taking up piano and violin lessons at the age of six, it was not long before Coco discovered a passion for music. By the age of twelve, she had also taken an interest in singing, and spent many of her after-school hours attending singing lessons and recording songs at a studio located in North Vancouver. By the time she was sixteen, Coco was ready to release a full-length pop album. Her catchy songs landed her airplay on a number of independent and college radio stations. Coco also began performing live at a number of nearby venues and coffee shops. A year later, Coco followed up by releasing a professionally-directed music video. In order to fund her musical projects, Coco spent many weekends performing as a skilled young violinist. 

By her early adult years, Coco was ready to fully dedicate herself to her craft. Taking her sound in a new direction, Coco brought together a team of some of BC’s top musicians, to complete her first full-band project. With a reputable team behind her, Coco recorded her debut six-song EP at The Warehouse Studio, one of Canada’s premier recording facilities. Her EP, set for release in the summer of 2015, is sure to demonstrate Coco’s competence as a multi-talented artist. She will be following the release of her new album with a string of local live performances. With a strong musical background and a determined mindset, Coco will continue to work towards her goal of paving herself a long-term career as an artist.
