Bio

Cocoa Creppel and Cannes Brulees have been together for three and a half years, but the individual members have been making music in the New Orleans area for the past two decades! ‘Cocoa’ and the band have been very fortunate to have appeared at several pre-eminent festivals/ venues including Milwaukee’s Indian Summer Festival, the 11th Annual Tunica-Biloxi Powwow and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival!
They have also had the pleasure of sharing the stage with such Native notables as Native American Grammy-award winner Mary Youngblood, Jim Boyd and Keith Secola’s Wild Band of Indians!
In September, ‘Cocoa’ released his first CD entitled, ‘Raising Cane’! The CD has received rave reviews from News from Indian Country, Whispering Wind Magazine and Native Peoples Magazine and was nominated for two 2006 Indian Summer Music Awards! Additionally, ‘Cocoa’s music has been featured on Native radio programs across the country including, Dawn Karima’s ‘Rezervations with Dawn Karima’(Native Voice One), Patty Talahongva’s ‘Native America Calling”(Native Voice One) and Patrick Doyle’s NativeRadio.com!
Most recently, music from, ‘Raising Cane’ has been selected to be part
of the original movie soundtrack of the award-winning Katrina documentary film, ‘Bayou Landfall: The Houmas vs. the Hurricanes’!
