Coconut Hustle

Coconut Hustle are a groovy World Music act blending Reggae, Soul and Samba into their own style of dancefloor music.

This big band funky sound sits on top of a solid Brazilian backbeat and rhythm section, and it seems all about having fun and getting the crowd involved. Pretty much anything is thrown into the mix, or remix, with live latin mashups of old school hiphop tunes a favourite. Horns, percussion, smokin musos and front men Tom and Marcio put it out there for the crowd and guarantee that Coconut Hustle will scratch your itch to dance.

The band has been around under the pseudonym of Sambalicious for 4 years while front men, Tom Foss and Marcio Mendes are an institution in the Perth Latin and party scene. Their onstage antics and energy have made them a major attraction at the Cuban Club NYD festival for 5 years running, they also host a weekly Brazilian night in Perth at the Deen hotel and work as full time musos in the pub, corporate and festival scene in WA.

The boys have now set their sights on pushing their own tunes and good times party atmosphere around the globe and will be releasing, as Coconut Hustle, their album “Kachow!” in Australia and Brazil at the end of this year.

They are inspired by the SambaRock sound from Brazilian composers like Jorge Ben and Clube do Balanco, as well as Soul and Funk legends such as Marvin Gaye and Mr Maceo Parker, and inspiring groovy bands such as the Cat Empire and Michael Franti.
