"SOUND CHECK"

Codebluu
“Muzik & Money”
Illbluu Records

Like blues and R&B music before it, different styles of rap music once were easily identified by geography. Sure, regional flavors remain, but leave it to a talented Midwesterner like Des Moines-based rapper Marty “Codebluu” Hart to effortlessly blend a mix of East Coast lyricism, Dirty South club music and West Coast realism that makes his latest EP, “Muzik & Money,” the kind of musical affair that should appeal to a wide base fans of hip-hop fans. Codebluu, who emerged two years ago with The Arson Squad, sets the table for his six-song musical cornucopia with the philosophical “Thinkin’” followed by the tougher “Midwest Muzik” and the smooth R&B based ballad “What’s Yo Sign?” He even throws in old school record scratching on “Ain’t No Joke” to good effect after laying down some West Coast-influenced stark reality on the biting title track. - CityView

Bio

Heat Maka Entertainment has put together a stellar list of up and coming independent artists for its 2010 roster. Behind each project is a person with a story and as fans get to know the music they will have the opportunity to get to know the artists.

If every family has a shining star, Marty “Codebluu” Hart is the young phenom of the Heat Maka family. With a sound that can only be described as a perfect mix of East Coast lyricism, Dirty South club music and West Coast realism he is gradually gaining momentum in the emerging Midwest music scene.

Having spent most of his formative years traveling extensively as part of a military family, Codebluu draws from his many experiences whether painful or productive to create music that is a true reflection of the life he is living. As a young boy he struggled with shyness until one day during lunch at East High School when his dreams became stronger than his fears and he stepped out of his shell to unleash the hottest 16 bars his boys had ever heard. Today Codebluu is a far cry from the shy young boy he once was. It was while he was still a student at East High School that he joined forces with a few childhood friends to form Foul Mouf Records and started recording in their basements. He chose the name “Codebluu”, a derivative of the medical term for “critical care needed”; when after his first public performance in that cafeteria he noticed the shocked looks and gasps of surprise amongst his classmates. He thought that since his rhyming skills were strong enough to leave people breathless Codebluu would be a fitting name and true to his name, he would soon become the remedy for what his fans were missing in their music collections.

Since high school Codebluu has been collaborating with several musicians in Iowa . One of the founding members of The Arson Squad, Hart has established himself as a well developed rap artists and created opportunities for them. In June of 2009 Hart founded ILLBLUU Records and started his pursuit in to the rap elite as a group and solo artist. Now, as his latest collaborative effort he is carving out his niche at Heat Maka Entertainment.
