Bio

Since his first release “Little Things Mean So Much” in 2006, singer/songwriter Cody Allen has become a more mature and experienced musician. From touring all over the country and sharing the stage with some of Canada’s heavyweights, Cody Allen has made a name for himself as a solid live touring act, with club owners and promoters, constantly booking him across the country, describing him as one of Canada’s best kept secrets.

“We Know How To Love” was released in March 2009 and received raved reviews with the singles “Come Alive” & “Ready To Go” which saw him and the band perform over 200 shows across Canada. The extensive touring created a buzz for the band that brought Allen’s music to fans with the passion and pride of a much-cherished love for pure music. Since then, Cody and his band have blossomed into a powerful trio whose explosive live shows have earned them a devoted following. Cody Allen creates a gutsy sound that resembles bands such as Our Lady Peace, Dave Matthews Band, Kings of Leon and Mumford and Sons. Allen who had a love for rock and folk, at a very young age, decided to make music that sounded loud and proud, taking music that could often be pretty and delicate, and fill it with enthusiasm, courage and confidence The incredible energy from his 3 piece trio draws crowds in quickly to his circle of songs and to the warmth of his stories, which makes him such an original and distinctive artist
.
In late 2010, Cody moved back home in the rustic country setting of Northern Ontario to focus on his highly anticipated new album “All Is Not Lost” which his expected to be released in the spring of 2011. Without internet and very little interaction with the outside world, “I thought this was the perfect situation for me to concentrate on what at one point got pushed aside. I wanted to have no distractions and let my thoughts, experiences and feelings pour out on paper. I’ve gone through a whirlwind of emotions throughout the past year and wanted to make sure I let it all out by doing what I do best, which is writing music” Allen explains.

Montreal Producer and musician, Shawn Sasyniuk jumped on board, to work closely with Cody on his new project. Sasyniuk, a veteran musician in the French Canadian music scene, promises to bring a new and interesting twist to the new music being created with a focus on Allen’s heart-wrenching melodies.

“All Is Not Lost” has a big and loud sound, focusing on Cody’s distinctive voice and creative guitar playing. The music has been described as being full of energy and insight. From the Led Zeppelin-ish track “Long Gone” that is about selling out, to catchy folk songs “If This Takes All Night” & “What You Do To Me” that were written while on tour, the new album is expected to be nothing short of feel and pure soul from the young singer.

As difficult and impossible as life gets, All Is Not Lost. “I’ve learnt over the last few years that there’s always something or someone right around the next corner that will create a vital role and new chapter in each and one of our lives.
