"Who is Cody Brandell"

So many words can describe this exhilarating yet sensual phenom Cody Brandell. His Spicy yet soothing vocals were birthed in Crowley, LA and raised in Lafayette, LA. Cody grew up in a musically inclined family. The influence from his family and his favorite artist is what helps him captivate his creativity, piano playing, and writing ability.

As you see your self, who is Cody Brandell?

I would describe myself as a confident yet humble musician with a vision for the future while applying pressure towards my dreams to create a new path in this industry. Like myself, I want other artists to see it’s more than ok to not conform to whats going on around you musically.

Tell us about your current project?

RetroSound is a collective about Love, Heartache, and Living your life the way you intend.

What’s happened in your career that makes you feel this is the industry for you?

When I was about age 14 there was a Robin Thicke concert in town and I was stoked to go check out the show. So I’m at the show and I somehow got backstage and was able to meet him and even sing for him and his friends. They were so shocked with my confidence he told me that I would be a superstar one day and from that day on I always knew this was my gift.

What makes you the next great happening?

I’m bringing something different to the industry by bridging the gap or breaking the stereotype of RnB music, by adding different elements of the 90’s RnB with the sounds of today.

Are your currently signed to a label or have any situation in the making?

No I’m not signed to anyone, but would definitely be interested in working with a company in the future that would take my music to new heights.

Who and what are your influences?

Stevie Wonder, Lionell Richie, Donny Hathaway, Pharell Williams, Kanye West, Usher, Michael Jackson just to name a few. One thing that influences me to keep going is the fact that anything is possible and if you want something you gotta go get it.

What should people expect from your upcoming 2016 projects?

People should expect another RetroSound project early 2016 with more production, creative vocal arrangement, and relatable content. Also more involvement with fashion and pushing the culture forward.

Is there anything you would like our readers to know?

I can start off by saying God comes first in everything you do and failing to plan is planning to fail. So keep dreaming and striving towards your goals in life and sure enough your dreams will become reality.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

My craziest “Where they do that at moment?” was just a few weeks ago, I saw an entire family shopping in Whole Foods barefoot haha. I really should’ve asked them “Where they do that at?” haha, but I just kept it pushing.
