"5 Mile - Winner of Rising Star Award"

5 MILE Band Wins MTM 'Rising Star' Award
Tuesday February 22, 9:10 pm ET

WEBSTER, Texas, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Austin-based 5 MILE Band has received the coveted "Rising Star Award" for its CD "Keep On Ridin'" at the annual MyTexasMusic awards show.

The award is given for the group who "shows remarkable promise for future endeavors," according to MyTexasMusic.com, which sponsors the awards program.

"We were amazed at all the support we received. We just love playing the music, and it appears people are responding," said Stewart Mann, lead vocalist. Other band members include: Cody Cotton (songwriter, guitar, harmonica); Wes Wilson (rhythm guitar); Tannon Hines (drums); and Jay Blake Thompson (bass guitar).

"Keep On Ridin'" is a compilation of the band's noted Southern country rock style.

According to the music reviewer for MyTexasMusic.com: "This band has a lot on their side. Their youth and enthusiasm, coupled with excellent crowd-pleasing tunes, will certainly continue to catapult 5 Mile into the Texas music spotlight."

Lone Star Music raves, "Bringing together the sounds of southern rock and country, 5 MILE has developed a must-hear sound along with an incredible stage show. With influences ranging from Lynyrd Skynyrd to Merle Haggard, 5 MILE encompasses that rowdy, hard-edged country sound that owned the airwaves in the 70's and they've managed to bring it together with a modern-day 'Texas Country' style. Their stage show will have you on your feet begging for more, and 5 MILE's original tunes will be etched in your memory after hearing and seeing their show. Before too long 5 MILE will be at the forefront of today's top acts, so catch them while you can, and you will not leave the show disappointed."

"5 Mile - Featured Artist"

I walked into the Lone Star Music Hall, in Elgin Texas and found a seat with full view of the stage. ... They are very appreciative of their fans and what they mean to the success of their band.... and these guys know how to have fun and make sure that everyone around them does the same. When Stewart starts to sing and move around on stage and you mix in the screaming guitar of Cody, then add J. Blake and Tannon keeping time with their own brand of thump and never forget Wes keeping them all in rhythm, you have one hell of a musical mixture. Some folks call it honky tonk music, alternative country music, or Texas-style country music, but I will call it what it really it----- DAMN GOOD MUSIC!!!!! I could hear and feel the many different musical influences in every song they performed. There was rock, blues, country and soul all mixed to a perfect blend that makes The 5 Mile Band what they are. ...Don't miss a chance to see these guys live. They put their heart and soul on the stage every time they play. If you do not have fun and enjoy yourself when these guys are around, then there is no hope for you, because you cannot help but have a great time at a 5 Mile Band show!
