"Foster's Big Night"

Grammy-award winning musician David Foster, who is the mastermind composer behind great singers like Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Olivia Newton-John and Michael Bublé, headlined Saturday’s Great Canadian Achievement Award ceremony at Coquitlam’s Red Robinson Theatre.

Composer/musician David Foster, centre, introduces Cody Karey and Tiffany Desrosiers to the audience to sing the duet “The Prayer. They receive a standing ovation for their beautiful performance.

Benefiting the CHILD Foundation (CHildren with Intestinal and Liver Disorders), Foster took to the stage with Red Robinson and Terry David Mulligan to entertain one of the most prestigious audiences ever. VIPs, movers and shakers, like B.C. Bearings’ Wendy McDonald, legendary bandleader Dal Richards, and Great Canadian Casino CEO Ross McLeod, all paid between $600 to $1,200 a ticket to be part of the first ever awards night that honoured Dr. Brandt C. Louie, CEO of London Drugs. Foster then took the opportunity to introduce some of his new up-and-coming talent who wowed everyone by singing some of his most famous movie theme songs. Foster, who has also composed themes for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics and more, makes no bones about the fact that he would like to be asked to compose for Vancouver 2010. Don’t worry David, I’d be totally shocked if that invitation isn’t already in the mail.

CODY KAREY

Another star is born, exclaimed David Foster, 15 time Grammy award winning songwriter, producer, and 'star-maker' of Josh Groban and Michael Buble, after an inspiring performance by this new outstanding Canadian talent, Cody Karey. From an early age, Cody and all of those in his life knew that his destiny would lead him to the big stage. By the time he reached 15, he had become a highly acclaimed young Classical Tenor, singing in Italian, Spanish, French, German and English. Cody was discovered in 2006 by the producers of the David Foster Star Search at the regional level of the competition. At the finals one month later, Cody gave an inspiring performance in Vancouver in front of a star studded panel of judges including Kenny 'Babyface' Edmonds, American Idol's Clay Aiken, MTV's Daisy Fuentes, and the 'starmaker' himself, David Foster. David was immediately impressed with Cody's talent and since then has invited him to perform at an array prestigious events in Canada and the US. His early performances with David included 'An Evening with David Foster' at the Victoria Independent Film Festival in 2007, and the 'World of Possibilities' concert in the summer of that year; the official grand opening of the Crystal Building of the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto where he sang the grand finale song with Canadian icon, Jann Arden, in front of an open air audience of over 40,000 people. This performance would prove to be the spring-board to a new level of success.

With these impressive performances under his belt, Cody was invited by David to perform at many high level events. He made his US debut at the Young Musician's Foundation Gala, a tribute to Merv Griffin in Beverly Hills, singing 'The Prayer' with American Idol runner up, Katharine McPhee. Further successes during the past year include personal invitations to perform in charity galas and special events in Malibu, Montana, Toronto, Dallas, Vancouver and LA to name a few, enthralling audiences with his breath-taking vocals and commanding stage presence. These performances have included appearances with international stars such as Sarah Brightman, Andrea Bocelli, and Lara Fabian. In July 2009 Cody was invited to perform at memorial tributes to both Farrah Fawcett and Ed McMahon which was an a honor and a true testimony to the emotion and maturity of this young man.

Cody is currently preparing to record his debut album in 2010 with David Foster at the helm with the help of legendary songwriter Diane Warren

Born to sing, Cody Karey has been given wings to fly.
