Bio

Coelho Bravo is the queer electronica duo that Allison Wonderland and Jennifer Poundcake would have formed in 1985, had they known each other at the time. Instead, each of them spent the intervening decades gathering fodder for musical inspiration: The angst of broken relationships, the complexities of pomosexual politics, and the intricacies of producing electronic music.

Influenced by artists such as Erasure, Bronski Beat, Joe Jackson, Howard Jones and Depeche Mode, Coelho Bravo dishes up 80s-style tracks with catchy riffs and a beat you can dance to.

Allison Wonderland writes and performs all instrumental parts, as well as provides recording, mixing and mastering expertise; better known around Boston as a bass player for bands such as Mercury Charm Offensive, 1977 and Gunpowder Gelatine, she spent much of her youth producing keyboard driven tracks with her synthesizers, drum machines and Atari ST computer, where she introduced the synth shakuhachi patch a good year before it showed up in George Michael’s “Father Figure.” Jennifer Poundcake, provides lyrics, lead vocals, and melodies, having served as lead vocalist and co-songwriter for The Amazing Poundcakes (recently) and trained as a classical vocalist (decades ago).
