The best kept secret in music

"Hot Talent, Cofield Mundi: Count Her In"

With the succesful release of her debut album Ceremony, the hit single River, a Sama-award nomination (Best Pop Album), various performances in the UK and SA, and her remixed single Count Me Out currently getting massive airplay on our local radio stations, Cofield Mundi is definitely a music force to listen out for. Cofield describes her songwriting process as ''totally emotive and transcending''. I have been writing songs since I was 12 without being able to read a note of music. Its a cathartic and spirtual process for me. Something within me just wants to express itself. Music is my Muse". - Cosmopolitan Magazine, SA

In Cofield Mundi's world, love is anything but moonshine and roses. She probes its darker side mercilessly, with her songwriting exploring issues of trust versus betrayal, or lamenting unfulfilled (or misdirected) desire.
Despite the title Ceremony, this is not a very formal album. While the lyrical content is serious, the music is simple and stirring, stark at times, like on opening track Leave the bones, bringing to mind artists like Michelle Branch. The songs are catchy in their simplicity: River, the first single, is uncomplicated pop, but still has substance. The relaxed, laid-back and acoustic atmosphere such as Count Me Out, Blueboy and Dayz perfectly underscores the wistful and sometimes sad emotions contained in Mundi's lyrics.
Mundi's confidence, combined with her sleek, assured voice and emotive lyrics, make Ceremony a noteworthy album. Kepp an eye on this Diva in the making.

If you havent heard Cofield Mundi yet, you will. And once you have, you'll find yourself playing her debut album Ceremony over and over again. At least I did, and was rewarded by the realisation that Mundi's voice is incredible. My favourite track, earmarked as the albums second single, is definitely Count Me Out, not only for the lyrics and the musical arrangements, but for the emotion stirred up while listening - its beautiful. Issues of love, trust, loss and longing are prevalent in all her songs, but are dealt with originality in distinctive Mundi style every time.
Her passion and professionalism are evident in Ceremony.....the finest in new music. - SPRINGS REVIEW, SA

"The Gem"

Occasionally one gets the opportunity to listen to an artist and ask yourself why you have never heard of him or her before. Cofield Mundi is one such artist, She is in a class of her own on this album , which has a relaxed approach with beautiful lyrics and well-composed music. The best part is that she cannot be compared to other artists and yet she has a uniquely familiar sound. Having composed all the tracks on the album, Mundi displays even greater talent. This is certainly an album worth repeated listen and I urge you to share this gem with others. - The Star Newspaper, SA

"Cofield Review"

Cofield Mundi is the local music scene’s answer to Dido. Her vocals are hauntingly moving and her melodies carry a subtle sense of melancholy, without being depressing or sad. Her new album, Ceremony, bares testament to her tremendous depth and skill as a vocalist and songwriter. The 12 tracks on the album are a varied mix of quiet ballads and slightly more uptempo, electronically-driven grooves that reveal a more optimistic side to Mundi’s nature. There is a distinctive depth and maturity to this album which makes it a deeply thought-provoking listen, but its smooth tempos and easy-going melodies also give it the qualities of a relaxing soundtrack for day to day living. Ceremony is a slow scenic drive through the back roads of life with Cofield Mundi’s enchanting vocals conducting the tour. - Kulula Inflight Magazine

"Hot Stuff"

If you’ve listened to your radio lately, you’ll probably have sung along to River one of the great, catchy tracks for this sit-up and listen debut album by local girl Cofield Mundi. The mood shifts effortlessly from upbeat to down tempo with splashes of disco, latino and new age sounds, beautifully delivered in Mundi’s smoky, soulful voice. Definitely a keeper. - Femina Magazine

"Cofield Mundi takes on the world!"

If you have not already heard her name, take note, for Cofield Mundi a Cape Town based singer-songwriter of impressive talent, looks set to become a favourite on the local music scene. Her debut album, Ceremony, is a collection of many beautiful and gently uplifting tracks. Musically the album mixes tinges of folk, rock and pop, moving from acoustic guitar and violin on tracks like the stark Leave the bones, to electronic backbeats and grand piano on Count me out, a definite future hit. The first single is River, a catchy pop tune that’s perfect for mainstream radio play. However, better songs litter the album, including the spellbinding Back to This, Blueboy and Forgive me. Ceremony seems richer with every listen - Fourways Review, SA
