"Shining Bright"

Picture yourself kicking back in the sun and sipping on an ice cold beer with your friends...
the debut release 'Soul Keep Shinin' from Sydney based singer/songwriter Cohen Heart sets the perfect backdrop for those summer days.
The opener, 'From Here to Eternity' sets the mood nicely with its bouncing ska offbeat, then chilling out with the mellow vibe of the title track before rounding off with the cruisy melody of 'Summer Song'.

Single - 'Soul Keep Shinin' (2009)

Mixing the summertime vibe of reggae with a splash of surf music, singer/songwriter Cohen Heart has created a uniquely infectious sound.
Growing up on the NSW South Coast, a landscape rich in diversity from its thriving industrial developments to the natural beauty of its beaches, it has provided Heart with the perfect backdrop for his brand of sun-soaked pop. Now based in Sydney, the twenty-three year old has just launched his debut solo release, ‘Soul Keep Shinin’.
Featuring three upbeat melodies including the mellow chill of ‘Summer Song’, the bouncing ska of ‘From Here to Eternity’ and the bass-driven rhythm of ‘Soul Keep Shinin’, the release marks Cohen’s transition from band frontman to independent solo artist.
Cutting his teeth playing in rock’n’roll bands since the age of twelve, Heart has developed his songwriting skills and gained years of live experience performing with various groups. Most notable of these include ‘The Brazen Hearts’, who featured heavily on Triple J’s Short, Fast, Loud program and also led to Cohen being interviewed on popular JJJ breakfast radio show ‘Mel in the Morning’ in 2005. Other bands Heart has fronted include Channel V ‘Punk Off!’ competition winners (2003) ‘Topnovil’ and National Campus Band Competition finalists ‘Reason Strikes’ (2007). In addition, Heart has toured the country extensively, supporting high-profile international and local acts such as Lagwagon (USA), No Use For A Name (USA), Anti-Nowhere League (UK), Gyroscope, Frenzal Rhomb, The Porkers, The Herd, and many more.
While the release of ‘Soul Keep Shinin’ introduces a fresh sound to many ears, it also reveals the musical evolution of a unique Australian songwriter. Cohen Heart’s debut single serves not only to establish him as a solo artist but also proves that he is a versatile musician and a talented young songwriter quickly making a name for himself.
