Brazilian music played by Brazilians!

Lucia Medeiros - vocals
Brazilian singer, moved to Australia in December 2006 and started a Bachelor of Music course at Queensland Conservatorium in 2007, majoring in Jazz Voice. Lucia always had a passion for Brazilian music, particularly bossa nova and samba and loves the opportunity of singing in her native language (Portuguese). Her accent from Rio de Janeiro, her gentle yet powerful timbre and strong rhythmic feel give her performances great authenticity. With her joyful, spontaneous and sophisticated interpretation, Lucia Medeiros has been captivating audiences in Brisbane. It was at the Conservatorium that Lucia met Wade Gregory (piano), and sharing the admiration for that genre of music, they started working together on several Brazilian tunes.

Wade Gregory - piano
Despite being the only Australian in the band, Wade still swings and grooves
like a carioca! Born in Melbourne but raised in Brisbane, he studied a Bachelor of Music in Jazz piano at the Queensland Conservatorium. A versatile and talented musician, he is in demand as both performer and arranger. Wade is able to interpret Brazilian songs in a personal way and bring out the beauty of Brazilian music, while still remaining true to its essence and its long tradition.

Mauricio Hosi - guitar
Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Mauricio Hosi graduated as a Bachelor of Music,
majoring in the Guitar from FAAM - Faculty of Arts Alcantara Machado. He
continued his studies taking lessons from renowned Brazilian musicians such as conductor Vittor Santos and guitar master Lula Galvao. As a guitarist Mauricio Hosi has been performing in festivals, events and in various musical environments. In 2007 he moved to Australia, where he had the opportunity to meet and play with international musicians and see different perspectives in music. Through mutual friends, Mauricio met Lucia in September 2011 and they shared the intention of starting a band focused solely in Brazilian music. A gifted guitarist, Mauricio adds harmonic sophistication to the group and plays in a way that only a good Brazilian guitarist could do.

Claudio Climaco - percussion
Claudio is a vibrant Brazilian percussionist, with a fantastic rhythmic talent that brings Brazilian music to life. Born in Goias, he came to Australia in 1998 and also works as a Capoeira teacher in Brisbane. He met Lucia and Wade in August 2011 through some common musician friends.
