Cokey G

Born on the south side of chicago during the booming crack epidemic of the 80's cokey g has seen the good the bad and the ugly. To make a difference in his future his mother decided to move to des moines, iowa for a new beginning. Moving from such a big city to a small town was a big change for cokey g. He found himself getting in trouble In the school system and finally getting banned from public schooling. His bad choices eventually got him sent to the boys state trainning school Which was a place where young troubled teenagers were sent for 6-9 months depending on their crime. Cokey g used this time to pick up the pen and start writing his lyrics instead of freestyling as he did while on the streets. By doing this he added another layer to his creativness. After 9 months he was released and continued to express his music by recording his lyrics behind a popular instrumental on a karoke machine he received for christmas. After recording about 6 songs he would Make copies on cassette and give them to family and friends. Despite having talent in creating songs cokey found himself back in the illegal activities surrounding his environment and landing himself back in the boys state training school for another 9 months. over the next 7 yrs he spent 3 months in juvenile boot camp and 3 yrs in fort dodge correctional facility. After being released from f.d.c.f. In September of 2003 cokey began to take his music much seriously and upgraded his music equipment to digital recording and learned how to record and arrange his own music. He began to make a name for his self by performing live around the midwest and by releasing underground cd's such as:•.2004 "The introduction" & "hypnotic and hen"•2005 "the struggle continues" & "midwest king"•2006 "on the grind" •2007 "hustlin & grindin"•2008 "midwest mayhem"Presently he's working on big project called "american struggle" and with the release of his new single "tear it off" and video "this that" cokey g is making a lot of noise in the des moines area and I believe its about to carry over to the world.
