Bio
Coladera is a traditional Cape-Verdean rhythm born of the morna that further derived from other rhythms like Portuguese Fado and Angolan Lundum. It was also influenced by samba, rumba and cumbia. It symbolizes a living stream that brings together various matrices of the Iberian-American popular music, which is at once traditional and mestizo, black and white, root and invention.
Musical project COLADERA celebrates the gathering of three musical worlds that honour the Lusophone rhythms, and holds Portuguese speaking language as the touchstone of its present work.
The worlds of Brazil and Portugal merge in a dialogue that is based only on classic guitars, percussions and voices, generating a rich and mestizo sound imaging. We hear echoes of Africa, of Candombl, Fado and Flamenco, of samba, rumba and mambo, Portuguese language with different accents all flavoured by the special spice of Suzanos acoustic percussion. All in the crudest and most direct way.
