Biography

Music has always played a large role in Colby’s life. Having a father with an extensive musical back round, and a passion for music, it was only natural for Colby to be influenced and intrigued by this. He was quick to jump into the music scene, wanting a bass guitar immediately. Saving every penny, doing odd jobs on the side, after several weeks, he emptied out his piggy bank and discovered he had only saved up $100. After begging his dad for a ride to the local music store, Colby impatiently picked out the first bass guitar in his price range and bought it…. A red 4-string Kasino bass. He quickly discovered bass guitar wasn’t as exciting as he thought, and quit. His Dad, disappointed, wasn’t surprised by his sudden disinterest, and ceased to push Colby to play an instrument. It wasn’t until a year or so later, that Colby discovered he could actually carry a tune. After numerous compliments about his voice (mainly his family, when he sang in the car), he wanted to pursue this hidden talent, and what goes better with a voice than a guitar? Again, he wanted this instrument right away. Luckily Christmas was only a few months away, so Colby impatiently waited until than to get his guitar. Unwrapping the gift and instantly playing it, it only felt natural. He promptly went to his room, and spent hours at a time learning songs from the internet. Surprised by his sudden interest, Colby’s Father taught him several songs…one being “Tears in Heaven”. Once he learned some basic chords and strumming/picking patterns, he tried to master the art of singing and playing at the same time. It took some practice, and some earplugs for his family, before he got it down, but availed eventually. He started writing songs several months after he picked up the guitar, throwing most of his first songs away, but slowly created songs that stuck with him, finding inspiration in various things. Recording in his fathers music room, he threw down rough copies of 10 original works. After tweaking, changing, rearranging, and adding to those original songs, eventually they were worthy of being recorded professionally. Ten songs were brought into the studio and recorded with a full band, only two being acoustic. Despite the new feeling of being in the studio, the recording process went quit smoothly, and Colby’s first album, “Something For Wishing” is now in the works of reproduction, set to come out Early February 2005…

Lyrics

Something For Wishing

Written By: Colby Smith

Wish on your shooting stars
and your 4-leaf clovers
whatever it is of yours
that seals your comfort
and whisper like your screamin
so behind it lies some meaning
something to feel, something to grasp
somethin for wishing

don’t turn around it feels so close
dont fall away this time
don't look back, your almost their
don't lose hope
its something for wishing

Breather

Written By: Colby Smith

I don’t know what I would do
Without you
And all the miles we’ve walked
All the paths we’ve crossed
And all the times we’ve talked
Are in my mind and I can breathe
A little easier now
When I picture life down the road
I can see you by me

I can breathe a little easier now
Knowing you found me
And for the first time in a long time
I can feel complete again

And all the miles we’ve walked
And all the paths we’ve crossed
And all the times we’ve talked
Are in my mind and I can breathe
A little easier now
And I don’t know what I would do
Without you beside me

I can breathe a little easier now
Knowing you found me
And for the first time in a long time
I can feel complete again

So wipe your tears away
Because you don’t have to cry anymore
You have all of my heart
And I can breathe so well

And all the miles we’ve walked
All the paths we’ve crossed
And all the times we’ve talked
Are in my mind
Cuz you’re my breather tonight

These Same Roads

Written By: Colby Smith

Do you remember all the times used to talk
Do you remember when I wasn’t good enough
For you? I do
Im so much stronger than that
Im so much better than that

So ill walk away
Won’t look back
Until I find the time again
and ill tell you now
im walking down
these same roads

familiar places here lead me to believe
a thousand dreams can’t hold enough for destiny
I know, I know
I’m so much stronger than that
I’m so much better than that

So Ill walk away
Wont look back
Until I find the time again
And ill tell you now
Im walking down
These same roads

Take a dream
Take a night
Take all you need
Makes no difference anymore
Fake a lie
Fake a chance
Fake rememberance
Their will be no more of this
Ill move on

I’ll walk away
Won’t look back
Until my time has come again
ill tell you now
Im walking down
These same roads
