"Cold Snap Rocks Bendigo"

Cold Snap were sensational as always. Rocked up a storm in Bull Street as part of Bendigo`s Rock & Blues Easter celebrations. Sonia you guys are FUN!!! I love the fact that besides being fine musicians, you also put on a show that really entertains. Just love the way you have fun doing what you do and the way you invite the audience to share in that fun. I`d find it hard to believe that anyone could come to a Cold Snap show and not leave with a smile; thanks for visiting us in Benders and making a lot of people very happy with your good vibes. Every time you come to Bendigo you make so many new friends and fans. Some of the comments I`ve heard today alone are ``Great show/lovely people/white hot/true professionals/wow!” This is coming from the people who did the audio, audience, fellow muso`s and event organizers. - Bendigo Blues Club

"Cold Snap In Melbourne"

Hmmm, maybe Melbourne blues band Cold Snap could have chosen a better name to endear themselves to their home town, like Tropical Holiday maybe. However, my bet is they named themselves after the Albert Collins title giving you an insight into the style of music they play. Either way, their electric blues has been winning them waves of new fans and a residency at the Nighthawk Blues venue, which is where Cold Snap will be recording their first live album this Friday night. The band claims that, 'the request for an album has been overwhelming. We figured the quickest way to give our fans what they wanted was to do a live recording at Nighthawk, our shows there always get the whole joint jumpin'.' Nighthawk Blues is at 114 Nepean Hwy, Mentone - $10 entry. - Inpress: Blues 'n' Roots with Martin Jones

Bio

One of the most entertaining acts on the Melbourne blues scene, Cold Snap is built around the husband-and-wife team of Joe Valenti (vocals, guitar) and Sonia Valenti (vocals, alto saxophone). Joining them are Ron Marsden (guitars), Les Potter (keys), Gary Newman (bass) and Chris Edsall (drums).

They have been a hit with audiences at the Alice Springs Blues Festival, Eltham Jazz & Blues Festival, Echuca Winter Blues Festival, Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival, The Blues Train, and have been invited to play at this year's Wangaratta Jazz & Blues Festival and the MotoGP in Phillip Island. They guarantee a high-energy, entertaining show, with their full-on versions of classic blues and R&B songs. They draw their influences from artists like Ike & Tina Turner, the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy and more, combining their original songs with great Soul and R&B tunes.

Talented musicianship combined with amazing vocals up front by this husband and wife team certainly set Cold Snap apart from many others in their genre; and their chemistry on stage is simply amazing.

Sonia's huge on-stage presence is instantaneous, from the moment her feet touch the stage and she grabs hold of that microphone; she is ready to do her thing. She truly is a pint-sized powerhouse, singing, dancing and even playing saxophone throughout the show. Is there anything she can't do?

"This band is sensational! And when you think they can't belt out another number better than they just did, see what happens when Sonia hits the stage. With an on-stage voice and attitude a bit like Janis Joplin - you could come to this night just to see her belt out anything this band can throw at her."

Performing at the MotoGP, Wangaratta Jazz & Blues Festival, Eltham Jazz & Blues Festival, Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival, Alice Springs Blues Festival, Anglesea Music Festival and the Echuca Winter Blues Festival where they sold out of their CD's. Word on the band is spreading, so much so that after each of their festival performances punters have consistently left claiming they were one of the best bands performing on the day.

Their shows have fans out of their seats, on their feet, and get the whole joint jumpin'. They hit the ground running with their first track and don't let up for a minute the entire night. Fans are literally mesmerised and simply have to stay for fear of missing a single moment. One lady said "Once I heard them play their first song, we had to stick around to see how these guys end their show tonight". Cold Snap didn't disappoint and had the whole place on their feet, dancing, jumping and hollering until their final note was played. It's always a great night when Cold Snap is in town.

It seems each venue they play at these days they convert new fans. One lady claimed Sonia was "one of the most talented women she has seen" after hearing her sing, dance, and then pick up her sax and help Brian out on the horns. Is there anything she can’t do? Another said "You guys shouldn't be called Cold Snap because you're Smokin' Hot!" Yes it does sound a little cliche, but these are the feelings that are conjured up after each show. I guess there's only one way to find out what it's all about...

Do yourself a favour and get down to one of their shows to witness one of Victoria's, if not Australia's hottest live Rhythm & Blues Revues, who must be seen live to be fully appreciated.
