"COLDWAY: “Too Much To Drink”, Its Appeal Is Immediate!"

Coldway is a multi-talented self-taught Artist, Producer, Engineer, Vocalist, Pianist, Arranger and Writer from Memphis, TN. Coldway began his career at the early at of 10, since he discovered that he could not ignore his natural gifts despite what his peers and family were saying. Coldway extends his talents to other fields very effectively and professionally. Fueled by his creativity, his visions cannot be demonstrated and completely expressed, by only performing one task.

Not sure how we missed this so far? Coldway’s current hype surrounding him made me look a little deeper, and I’m glad I did. This guy has skills. This isn’t cookie-cutter hiphop , Rap or R&B. It’s a nice collection of songs, and there’s nothing standard about it. The beats and melodies push the bounds of hiphop while maintaining its unmistakable catchy vibe.

I’ve given Too Much To Drink a number spins, and its appeal is immediate. This is good music, pure and simple. These are songs you want to listen to repeatedly not just because the music is good, but because you want to get all the details of the stories he’s telling and the feelings he’s sharing. It’s a little sexual, explicit and maybe even briefly profane, but it’s no worse than what we’re already hearing on radio. Coldway’s deliveries are sultry, dreamy and groovy.

Place Your Banner Here!

While Coldway clearly has a hip hop sensibility as his central theme, there’s a wide range of musical influences apparent in this album. His songs are thoughtful, lyrical, and well crafted. Several songs are about love and sex of course, and even though these subjects have been done to death in the hiphop arena, Coldway’s sentiments sound fresh.

As a listening experience, you can play Too Much To Drink straight through. It has a streetwise, brightly funky, yet laid-back groove that’s perfectly suited to cruising around at midnight and enjoying your favorite indulgences. Standout songs abound by the handful, but my favorites are: “Butterflies”, “Young Forever”, “Random Party”, “Numbers”, “Doing Me”, “Too Much To Drink”, “Are You Going Down”, “ Alcoholic”, “Like You Can”.

Coldway stands in the wake of his peers, like Drake, Trey Songs and Kendrick Lamar in the maturity of his sound, his lyrical content, and his class. He comes out swinging with Too Much To Drink adding a distinctive freshness to classic hiphop styles. He is candid, charming, sensual, and heartfelt in his lyrics and delivery. Coldway is purely and simply working his way up, to be one of the greats.

Coldway does an incredible job of intriguing the listener with his word play. You never know what he is going to say or how he is going to say it. One thing is sure though, whether its melodies, rhythm, soul or dance, Coldway does it well. -
