Bio

On Cole Fournier’s debut release, One Morning, I’m Going To Wake Up, the 25-year-old former Singer-Songwriter explores age-old themes of love, loss and lust against a lyrical backbone borrowed from heroes Jesse Lacey (Brand New) and Max Bemis (Say Anything).

The eleven songs on One Morning, I’m Going To Wake Up were written over a period of eight years and across four continents, documenting the singer’s life as a busker in Paris, tree planter in Prince George and Camp Counselor in Spain. The songs also come in the wake of a hiatus for Fournier’s side project with partner David Dino White — acoustic anthemers White Coals.

Co-produced by JUNO nominee Ben Leggett, One Morning, I’m Going To Wake Up sees Fournier go beyond his roots in acoustic party rock, offering insight into modern relationships (“I’m With You But I’m Lonely”), loss (“Austria”) and pining for love (“Little Fires”) with a warm spirit, layered guitars, heartbeat-drums and a cutting, emotive voice.

“The first song on the album was written back when I was in highschool,” says Fournier, “and deal with dark subject matter. Trusting the wrong people, saying the wrong things, chasing the wrong dreams, the kind of immaturity that comes with being young. But I think of One Morning as a record that’s about reflection and hope — about finding some peace with the ghosts in my closet.”

And ghosts truly are a recurring theme on the record, as are fires, respectively symbols of personal hauntings and cleansing. “Each song on this album is one building block in a larger chronological narrative. The songs lead into one another both lyrically and sonically. .”

One Morning, I’m Going to Wake Up was recorded in North Bay, Ontario during winter 2013 and features the talents of guitarist David Dino White, bassist Eric Treleaven, drummer Mike Perreault and guest & back-up vocalists Annie Sumi, Holly Cunningham and Brent Fortin. JUNO winner Siegfried Meier of Beach Road Studios took over mastering duties.

The debut record from Cole Fournier is available in physical and digital formats beginning May 1, 2014. For more information, visit facebook.com/colefourniermusic and www.colefournier.com
