Coley

Coley

BandRockSinger/Songwriter

"A post-grunge-pop throwback to the 60's" (Sherbrooke Record). Coley combines the elements of Folk, Rock, Pop, Alternative music. Expect Steve Earle lyrics, with Zeppelin riffs, British hooks and Nirvana intensity. Passion drives creation, and results in a live show worth seeing.

Biography

Down with long winded bios. Here's a sum up.

Everyone in the Coley family plays music. So no surprise, JF is the fifth generation to head into the industry. Performing since he was three, he went to Mount Allison University for four years where he met a lot of cool people, had interesting conversations, played with a few bands, and drank good beer.

He was recruited before gratuation by Flicker, an Ontario based band. They toured Ontario for a year, after which he quit, suffering from the second hand effects of LSD (lead singer disorder). They had by then toured at Edgefest, Bayfest, and Canadian Music Week, with cool cats like Our Lady Peace, The Guess Who, Sloan, Edwin, Sam Roberts, Matthew Goode, etc.. JF got to play The Thrill is Gone with Russell Jackson, BB King's bass player. Cool. Jamming out with Treble Charger and Jeff of Moist to his favorite bands until 7:30 was also cool. But all in all this short stint mostly consisted of down time, which helped JF perfect his Tiger Woods golf skills, and lose a lot of weight to malnutrition.

JF's since been working solo. He recorded with buddy Mike K in Los Angeles in 2003. The album sold 1000 copies, and can be used as a subsitute for a coaster or frisbee. Order your own copy now via paypal. The album was toured in Quebec and Ontario, and they had fun with Sloan, the Trews, April Wine, Kill Cheerleader and Capitaine Revolte. In december 2004, JF started the recording of a new album with Jordon Zadorozny. Jordon is the Stephen Hawkins of music. Beer was drank, tunes were played, and jokes at Maroon5's expense were told. The album, Crossing the Rubicon will be available soon. Check it out, it is pretty cool. JF Coley (the musical entity) also underwent a major change, becoming Coley (no relation), a namesake band. The powerhouse trio has been wowing crowds everywhere they go. Pascal Desmarais is on bass. They met in Sherbrooke when the previous bass player quit three days before a big show, on a tuesday. And Joce Blanchette, on drums. Joce has been around since the sunday night empty bar gigs of 2003. Big things in 2006.

Soapbox Song

Written By: J.F. Coley

Give me a reason to wave a flag
And I will show you gold
Give me a reason to vote
For the parties that I've sold

I spent 16 years of my life
Trying to figure out what's wrong or right
And I guess time just passes by

Give me a reason to trust your country
And I will show you war
Give me a reason to trust your God
When I've seen him kill before
Will science and technologies
In time teach us?
Seek truths!
What message are we sending when we're lying to our youth?

I've spent 20 years of my life
Looking through the pages of our books
And I guess time just passes

By
Never put off a day
What you can do now.
I,
Never put trust in faith.
And I guess time just passes by...

I've spent 20 years of my life
Looking through the pages of our books,
and I guess time just passes...

By.
Never put off a day
What you can do now.
I,
Never put trust in faith.
And I guess time just passes by.

Anymore

A french maid, a big rip
Don't run like you'll never slip
Anymore
I can't eat
I can't try
I seem to drink almost everyday
I don't know if I'm getting up,
or coming down from my next high
Anymore

Ever wake up, ever wake up
not knowing where you are?
Ever wake up, ever wake up?
Not knowing...

We backtracked Mona Lisas
while we slept out on the porch
getting high, no more
We'll turn back on to Swan Song
need it laced with Jimmy's flow
Aeiia, whoa
Anymore

40 Days

Written By: JF Coley

I need chills
in my bones.
I feel heat
coming on.

I don't want to go another 40 days.
I don't want to live there, I don't want to stay...

I don't need
cocaine air
to feel free
or debonair.

I don't want to go another 40 days.
I don't want to live there, I don't want to stay...

I don't want to get up, I don't need no makeup, all I need is my sanity!

woo

I don't want to go another 40 days.
I don't want to live there, I don't want to stay...
I don't want to go another 40 days.
I don't want to go....

To California...
to California...
C'est California...
