Bio
Colin Brown is a contemporary compser, player, and bandleader. Based in Brooklyn, NY, he performs nationally and records regularly as a leader and sideman.
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Colin came up in the local music scene there, while studying Indian classical music from Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.
His debut album "There's No Place" is available through his independent label 3rd Generation Recordings. This record features Brian Jordan, Brandon Etzler, Tony Peebles & Joe Cohen.
Currently, he is finishing his 2nd release, which was tracked Aug 2011. This record features Will Bernard, Kenny Brooks, Tony Mason & Morgan Price. He can be found playing regularly in NY, and will be touring with several groups and artists throughout the spring and summer.
Colin has worked with Akoya Afrobeat Ensemble, James Andrews, Will Bernard, Charles Bradley, Tom Brenneck, Brooklyn Soul Survivors, Kenny Brooks, Karl Denson, Dujeous, F.A.M.E./4OneFunk, The Igniters, Brian Jordan, Eric Kalb, Jim Keller, Tony Mason, The New Mastersounds, Al Street, Topaz, Underground System Afrobeat.
Festival performances include: New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, Bumbershoot, Bear Creek, Gathering of the Vibes, High Sierra, Joshua Tree.
