Colin MacIntyre is one of the UK's most respected songwriters & performers who has also released under the moniker 'Mull Historical Society'. A multi-instrumentalist , writer and producer, MacIntyre hails from the Island of Mull (population: 2,000) off Scotland's west coast. To date MacIntyre has achieved 4 UK Top 40 Chart hit Singles, and 2 Top 20 Albums, and has been awarded The Glenfiddoch Spirit Of Scotland Top Creative Talent Award. Colin has released 3 albums under the 'Mull' pseudonym : 'Loss'(2001), 'Us'(2003) & 'This Is Hope'(2004). Colin then decided to come out from behind the 'Mull' moniker upon releasing his 4th album 'The Water' under his own name in '08, it having been Produced by LemonJelly's Nick Franglen. The Guardian called it 'biting, pop perfection'. "Loss" went on to receive tremendous critical acclaim and many "albums of the year" polls and is nearing 100,000 sales in the UK alone. In just a year MacIntyre went from supporting The Strokes on their debut UK tour to selling-out the 2,000 capacity Shepherds Bush Empire, and touring with REM. "Us" hit the UK Album Chart at number 19. Colin has toured the U.K., Europe + U.S.A and performed at all the main Festivals, and is to appear at SXSW 2010. A songwriting junkie, oblivious to passing trends, he has become more than just Mull's local hero. His not-so-secret society is growing all the time. MacIntyre's latest album - Island (2009) - was his most intimate yet. It was conceived in America and recorded back home on the other side of the Atlantic, on the Isle of Mull in his old school, now an arts centre. MacIntyre performed at SXSW 10 and has spent 2010 touring, playing summer festivals, and is now working on new material. In October 2010 he performs with Jon Fratelli at the Mary's Meals charity concert in Glasgow. In advance of which he will visit the charity's key project in Malawi. His new album will be released in Spring 2011 on Xtra Mile Recordings
