Colin Spring

Highballs For The Lowbrow is the fifth album by NW based musician Colin Spring. It features eleven original tracks with the final cut being a cover of the 1974 Sammy Johns hit “Chevy Van”.

Spring has a gifted ability with lyrical twists and turns, and a talent for blending social commentary, melancholy and humor. An album highlight is the keyboard performance of Grammy Award Winner Larry Knechtel (Bridge Over Troubled Water), who plays on the aforementioned cover song and was the producer of the original version.

Other album standouts include the perceptive opener Selling Reality, the crowd favorite Good Looking Man, the sparse Nebraska-esque Reservation Strays, and the bittersweet Baby, Don’t Sweat It.

Notable Accomplishments

Colin was finalist at the prestigious Dave Carter Memorial Songwriting Contest at the Sisters Folk Festival and has opened for Americana icon and Juno Winner Fred Eaglesmith several times (and has twice MC’d Fred’s annual Southern Picnic in Ontario, Canada).

He has also opened for several national acts including Greg Brown, Chris Smither, Devil Makes 3, Richard Buckner, Bobby Bare Jr, Curt Kirkwood of the Meat Puppets', John Doe of X, Pat MacDonald (Timbuk 3), Evan Dando of the Lemonheads, Jon Langford of the Mekons and others….
