Colin Thompson Band

The 18 year old son of acclaimed Americana music artist Randy Thompson, has toured Europe, received raving national and international reviews, and won numerous guitar competitions. His playing has been heard on radio all over the US, Europe, and Australia as well as on Sirius XM satellite radio. Already a seasoned performer in his teens, he has developed a style all his own. While he often gets compared by the press to other great slide guitar players (Sonny Landreth, Duane Allman, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks) his playing is a fresh and unique combination of all his influences mixed with is own unique spin. At age 14 and again at age 15 he won the Mid - Atlantic States Guitar Center’s Guitarmagedon National Blues Guitar championship. A year later formed his own band (The Colin Thompson Band) with fellow Virginians Mike Calve on bass, and Stephen Lieske on drums. Known for their impressively full sound with just three pieces, The band has been turning in live performances and inspiring reviews that are building a critical buzz at an unstoppable momentum. A National Associated Press review described him as “Inventive” on the slide guitar. No Depression magazine has called his playing “Vibrant.” The band is currently recording their first full length album to be released late August 2010. Stay tuned.
