Bio
Collectors Club are a six piece indie-pop band based in and around Middlesbrough, in the sunny North East of England. The band got together out of a shared but varied love of Indie music and after occasionally jamming together in their lunch breaks while at sixth form, they decided to convene in Chris' attic and have an argument about music, whilst occasionally writing some nice indie-pop songs.
Since playing their first ever gig at the beginning of 2011, they've taken their feel good, summery, indie-pop on the road all over the UK, sharing stages with the likes of Mystery Jets, Jake Bugg, Pigeon Detectives, Pete and the Pirates, Mona, The Crookes, Polarsets, Little Comets, Sunshine Underground and Goldheart Assembly along the way.
In July 2011 they were selected for a slot on the coveted BBC Introducing Stage at Scotland’s T In The Park, which led to their first Radio 1 play courtesy of Ally McCrae and further festival appearances followed with performances at Middlesbrough’s Intro Festival and The Stockton Weekender, where they played on the main stage just before Newton Faulkner and Seasick Steve of all people! They were kindly invited back to Stockton in 2012 and again performed on the main stage, this time alongside The Pogues, The Go Team and We Are Scientists.
After a brilliant 2011, 2012 began kicked off lead singer/songwriter Joe Smithson being invited down to Maida Vale and Abbey Road for the BBC Introducing Masterclass. With a strong and passionate local following already in place, it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the UK join the club…
