I remember sitting in the backseat of our big station wagon that always smelled like gas listening to Elton John's Levon-the music looked like colored waves in my four year old mind and I could see how they all moved together, all waves of energy, something like an EKG of sound. I knew that I wanted to write songs that wove together like those lights I was seeing. I leaned forward and told my parents that I was going to write songs...with every other song in it. Like good parents they nodded yes. But I knew that I could bring all these different waves I was seeing together into music. I remember it clear as day. Now, many years later, I do write songs. And I can still see music. The mystic in me is always finding the exact right lyric or tone to bring forward a mood. I believe in music as the universal language. I experience it's ability to bring people together. I know it has the power to heal.
