Bio

Colman Brothers Mat and Andrew play trombone and trumpet respectively. The pair, from Bristol UK, have been writing and working together for over 10 years. Both have studied jazz music and performance (Mat at the Royal Academy of Music in London and Andrew at Leeds College of Music) and have been successful musicians in their own right.

Their music combines traditional Latin and jazz influences with contemporary beats with big band brass sections. They get their inspiration from the sounds and arrangements of the Peter Herbolzheimer RC&B, Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Big Band, Kenny Clarke/Francy Boland Big Band as well as contemporary artists like Nicola Conte. They have been releasing 7" vinyl singles since 2006 and recently released their debut album entitled 'Colman Brothers' to high acclaim.

Mat is a trombonist who has been a session musician on the London scene for many years performing with a wide variety of musicians and groups including The Herbaliser, Kasabian, Chris Bowden, Pee Wee Ellis, Tom Jones etc etc

Andrew is a trumpet/flugelhorn player has performed/recorded with some of the UKs most talented jazz artists including Pete King, Tina May, Jacqui Dankworth as well as the dutch flugelhorn player Ack Van Rooyen. He was voted the Young Jazz Musician of the Year in 1999 and since then has performed at many of the leading jazz venues/festivals in Europe, both with his own quartet and other ensembles including the Jamil Sheriff Octet.
