Colm Lynch

Colm Lynch

BandRockSinger/Songwriter

"...he does seem to have a direct line to the spirits of Dylan and Mike Scott" (Irish Times) “Lyrically and musically, Lynch is a super-sized cut above the rest with songs that stick in your memory" (In Dublin) “cinematic, stylish, different… very different and very good” (Dave Fanning)

Biography

Since the release of his first album “A whisper in a riot” in late 2006, Colm Lynch has been on a musical mission that has brought him to all four corners of the land and beyond. Born and bred in Dun Laoghaire, Lynch honed his craft playing in the local pubs, clubs and venues from an early age. But it was the, now legendary, Sunday Session at IN, Dalkey that brought his talents to the attention of the wider locality.
It was the release of the critically acclaimed first album that put his musical stylings on show to the nation for the first time. It received glowing plaudits from the likes of Dave Fanning, Hotpress, The Irish Times, In Dublin and a host of other people and publications.
His current album, Ticketyboo, is picking up where he left off. While more polished, it still posesses the same characteristics that made his debut such a winner. Whether in a mellow mood or just plain aggressive, the music always comes from the heart. This is plain to see when witnessed in live performances. National tour dates are currently being added and his new single, “Kiss My Blues Away” is currently being played and playlisted on stations nationwide.
2010 has been very busy indeed with national radio appearances on The Pat Kenny Show and The Ray Foley Show, Also regional appearances on The Strawberry Alarmclock on FM104 and Dublin’s 98. With a Meteor Award nomination for best newcomer now under his belt the future looks bright for Colm Lynch.

Lucinda

Written By: Colm Lynch

Lucinda
Look out, Lucinda’s walkin’ into the place
Completely without style
But, man, she’s got a real cute face
I’m gonna bring her back to my place
I wanna show her my expensive taste
In bedroom furniture
So if it’s quite alright
You’ll be top of my list tonight
Alright
Sit down beside the man
Who handed you that rose
Please Lucinda
A vision from your head down to your toes
Stop pretendin’ that you’re hard to get
You’re easy girl
And everybody knows.

Look out, Lucinda’s walkin’ over to me
Completely without grace
But, man, that skirt’s above the knee
I’m gonna ask her for some company
I’m gonna let her know her destiny’s
Inside my bedroom suite
So if it’s quite alright
You’ll be leaving with me tonight
Alright
Sit down beside the man
Who handed you that rose
Please Lucinda
A vision from your head down to your toes
Stop pretendin’ that you’re hard to get
You’re easy girl
And everybody knows.

Lucinda, take your time
Relax and you’ll be fine
Lucinda, don’t be shy
Cause I won’t bite
Lucinda, you’ll be fine
Believe me I’m not lyin’
Just one more glass of wine
And you’ll be mine
So if it’s quite alright
You’ll be leaving with me tonight
Alright
Sit down beside the man
Who handed you that rose
Please Lucinda
A vision from your head down to your toes
Stop pretendin’ that you’re hard to get
You’re easy girl
And everybody knows. ©Colm Lynch. 2004

The Storm

Written By: Colm Lynch

The Storm

There’s a storm brewin’
Bears such an icy breeze
And the teachers and the preachers
Have been wrestled to their knees
And there’s a fire ragin’
Beyond the bustlin’ breeze
And all the countries and the cities
And the towns are history
And no one will be safe
And no one can be saved
And the painters have painted
Their last landscapes
Time please, it’s getting late.

Well, there’s a storm brewin’
Beyond the hills to the east
And all the honest and the evil
Will be cowerin’ at its feet
And cursed are the meek
For they shall inherit their graves
When the painters have painted
Their last landscapes
Time please it’s getting late
Time please it’s getting late

Two Bullets and a Gun

Written By: Colm Lynch

Two Bullets and a Gun

I was an empty suitcase, in the winter, going no place,
In a bedroom, in a closet, gathering dust.
I was a whisper in a riot, full of screaming,
Full of anger, full of passion, full of lust.
That was till the day that I met Amy
Man, I really thought she’d save me
Or at least just treat me nice
Oh but if I had two bullets and a gun
I’d shoot her twice

Well Amy came from Maine, New England,
And had an accent that just danced
I swear it danced right off her tongue,
And she made me feel like the cat who got the cream
Just like a lazy dog sleepin’ in the sun.
And one day she said ‘Let’s drive to California,’
She wanted to be someone
It was her last throw of the dice
Oh bur if I had two bullets and a gun I’d shoot her twice.

Shoot her twice, shoot her twice
‘Cause two is twice the fun of one
Yeah twice is nice.

Well after our trip down the nation
We both got full time occupations
I was a dealer she was a user and that was fine.
We were the yin and yang of the drug scene
The novelty was binding
I was making lots of money, she was getting high.
And she swore that she loved me
And I believed her
As I stared into the twin pools of deceit that were her eyes.
Oh but if I had two bullets and a gun I’d shoot her twice

One night she just crept off, the love of my life
Without explanation, without a goodbye, I just died.

Well, me, I quit the dealin’, too many squealers squealin’
And the law was gettin’ hot upon my trail.
I’ve tried to carve a new life for myself
But I’m afraid only self pity, hate and bitterness prevail.
I can’t blame her entirely for this outcome
Heaven knows she didn’t help none,
But I keep tellin’ myself it was not her
Who betrayed me, it was her vice
And if I had two bullets and a gun
I’d bring her out into the wilderness
Tie her up so she couldn’t budge none,
Then I’d load my bullets in my gun
Yes I’d load my bullets in my gun
And I’d pull the trigger twice
In quick succession ! !
