Colonel Burns is a jazz-funk-groove band from Denver, playing originals and covers in the styles of Galactic, Greyboy Allstars/Karl Denson, Soulive, and assorted latin and reggae. In the last few months Da Kernals have shared the stage with ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra -- on tour with Dave Matthews Band), Garaj Mahal, Buckner Funken Jazz, Yo Flaco, and Future Jazz Project.
This 6-piece instrumental act is comprised of drums, bass, percussion, guitar, keys, and saxophone. Members of the group have been active in the Denver scene for years. Colonel Burns has a track record of exceeding expected audience draw and crowd enthusiasm, and has been invited back again and again by every venue they've played. They have set the record at the popular Herman's Hideaway in Denver for the largest draw by an all-instrumental act in the club's history.
