Colony Underground

BandHip Hop

this boston based hip-hop band "is like a stack of pancakes, juicy fruit gum, coca-cola, and popcorn-funky" (written by an anonymous person at one of the shows)

This six-piece hip-hop band consists of two emcees, Rick O’Shea and Nemesis, guitarist Tex, bassist Barry Ryan, Rob with the keys, and Dave on drums.
Having been together since 2002, all their hard work paid off when their first show attracted more than 300 people into a small club in Colony’s hometown of Weymouth, Ma. The crowds are still coming out to many Boston venues including, The Middle East downstairs, Sky Bar, and The Western Front. They’ve also performed with various Boston hip-hop acts such as the Skitzofreniks and O.V.M.
Mark Scortino, coordinator of the 2004 Block Island Music Festival, has said, “You guys blew me away”. After playing as the Friday headliner, they were invited to play again in 2005. Mike C. with the MassCann/NORML organization has also praised Colony and was scheduled to perform at the 15th annual Freedom Rally in Boston.
Colony has been featured and also played live at the Emerson College station 88.9 FM WERS @ nite, with host and DJ JayCeeOh. LEVITATE was released on JayCeeOh’s album, Fools Don’t Know. The single COLONY UNDER THE GROUND can be found on the new Leedz Edutainment Boston hip-hop compilation, Mass. Movementz.
This hungry and determined band will have you “following them all the way down to a colony under the ground”.
