"Yuma Lettuce Days"

BY PAIGE LAUREN DEINER, SUN STAFF WRITER

Arlene Thiem said she had to come back to Yuma Lettuce Days after the lettuce seeds she bought at this event last year failed to grow.

"I came back to get some more and see if I could maybe make them grow," said Thiem, a winter visitor from Ripon, Wis.Thiem was one of hundreds of people who turned out to celebrate Lettuce Days, a three-day event that began Friday.

Beyond getting free lettuce seeds, attendees of the event were treated to live music like the Phoenix-based rock 'n' roll band Come Back Buddy. As the band played "American Pie" and other favorites, groups of people tapped their feet, bounced to the beat and mouthed the words of the well-known songs.

When they weren't bopping to the music, many spent their afternoon shopping at the craft booths that lined Main Street.

"Harvest Festival"

Hi guys,

I attended the Harvest Festival at the Alameda Fair Grounds, Ca. today. My girlfriend drug me to it. And just as I though, it was a chick festival. Thank god you guys were there. You guys rock!!!! I would have hung around to catch your last show, but we had to go. I wish I would have discovered you guys sooner, as I would have been there all three days. Your Buddy Holly is so on the money! You guys are awesome! I hope to see you guys again in the future.

"Vacaville Fiesta Days"

Dear Carlos,

My deepest thanks to you and the members of Come Back Buddy for being a part of the 50th Annual Vacaville Fiesta Days celebration, and for giving such a great show. It was truly a pleasure to have your band at the event. Please let everyone know how much we all enjoyed having you there.

All of us on the Vacaville Fiesta Days Committee truly appreciate the fact that it is the quality of the music that makes the people come, and makes them stay. Although I was not able to hear all of the band's performance due to medical problems, everyone I talked to really enjoyed your music.

Your band delivered a high energy, high quality, totaUy professional performance. The songs you performed reflected a wide variety of 50's music, with something to please everyone. You did a great job in getting the crowd going, and keeping them going.
Everyone was impressed with the high quality of musicianship and professionalism that every member of your group demonstrated.

It was truly a pleasure working with you this year at Vacaville Fiesta Days, and I lookforward to working with you again in the future. Please pass on my compliments and appreciation to everyone in the group. If I can be of service to you or any member of your band in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Respectfully,

Bio

Come Back Buddy has been performing for close to eight years. The 3 members are professional musicians with years of experience playing and touring.

In January 2009 we were 1 of 10 bands selected out of 120 entries to perform at the Western Fair Association convention in Reno. We have been regular performers with the Smart N’ Final chain, participating in grand openings up and down the west coast.

Our music is fun and very family oriented. We are clean cut, come dressed in costume (white sport coats for the guys and poodle skirt for our female bassist.) We're a favorite at sock hops, car shows, weddings, corporate events, fairs anniversaries and birthday parties!

We regularly perform in western states with California and Arizona our main hubs.

We maintain a very busy schedule. Our gig Calendar is here:
