Bio
"Comets are something you'd want to stumble upon in the small hours of the morning, in a dark new New York bar, and be completely mesmerised by" - Tom Robinson (BBC 6Music)
Having recently supported New Young Pony Club, Polarsets and Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Comets are an electro 5 piece from Midlesbrough that have make songs positively swaggering with attitude. Taking their cue from the progressive, understated grooves of LCD Soundsystem, analogue synths and nonchalant, monotone vocals lead Comets tracks through to urgent dance-party choruses.
Grimy basslines and spiky guitars mean there's also a dark underbelly to Comets' music, recalling the shadowy territory of Joy Divison, while their eccentric delivery and song structures point to the early work of Talking Heads.
With members coming from a variety of musical backgrounds including dance DJ's and psych-punk bands Comets sound is wide and varied but each track is driven with injected with a danceability and infectious groove.
Comets were recently featured on BBC 6 Music's 'Introducing' programme with Tom Robinson and are currently gigging extensively around the North of England.
