"ComicBookHero"

"Starting out in 2005, Comic Book Hero have come a long way, they released their debut album ‘Honestly time is running out’ all the way back in 2006 which obviously opened doors for them, and kept them busy, now their second album has followed in the footsteps of the debut and have gain success on ITunes! Their catchy material is displayed in featured songs such as ‘Eskimo words for snow’ and ‘I’ve been better things with 15 minutes’ the Leicestershire boys have a lot ahead of them, luckily Melomania Records found them in time and it’s just getting started! Check them out; you will not be disappointed if you’re a fan of Fall Out Boy and New Found Glory!” - Stage Fright Reviews

"Live Performance"

“The third band of the night was Leicester based four-piece Comic Book Hero. Their sound is catchy, energetic Pop-Punk raised well above that of your average band by well-written, distinctive material and their charismatic and confident delivery. It’s an instantly accessible sound, complete with catchy jump/sing-along choruses yet there’s some real depth and edge in their music and it’s in finding this balance that the band has found a sound that really works for them.” - Surface Unsigned 2009

Bio

Leicestershire band Comic Book Hero consists of Robert Sparrow, Daniel Harris, Christopher Stevens and Richard Harris. Honestly Time Is Running Out was released in March 2006, containing songs as Honestly Time is Running Out, Adam Cocaine, The Descent and Guys with Hair Extensions Should Be Shot. This EP was recorded with different members of the band than the present day members. With the release of their first EP, the band went in search of gigs. Honestly Time Is Running Out allowed the band to have performances at: The Charlotte (Leicester), 02 Academy 3 (Birmingham), Jailhouse (Coventry). The band was aware of the lack of promotion this EP provided and believed it was time to change their genre. This change in direction resorted in change of band members; the new members were the 4 people who still remain.
In January 2009, the band entered the studio to produce the self released, 5 track EP Eskimo Words for Snow. The EP consisted of Eskimo Words for Snow, Misery Needs Company, Five Minutes to Show Time, I’ve Done Better Things with 15 Minutes and First Prize is Martyrdom. This EP was released on iTunes 7th May 2009. This new direction and new EP was enough to get the band a lot more promotion and live performances than the previous. They entered themselves into Surface Unsigned 2009 but were unsuccessful. Comic Book Hero got noticed by promoters for the Midlands and was offered slots at local venues: The Old Wharf – Headline performance (Birmingham), Sound Bar (Birmingham), The Shed (Leicester), The Musician (Leicester), The Venue (Leicester). This has helped to achieve the band a good fan base in these areas and a lot of support from other bands.
Melomania Records Ltd were impressed with the recordings and live performances of the band and in September 2009 and agreed to take the band under their management and Record Label. This has helped the band achieve the recognition they needed and are doing shows around the East & West Midlands as well as Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The band has been confirmed as an act for the 12 date UK tour with I, Said the Spy. This shows the success of the band, which will only increase in 2010. They are set to be recording within the year, dates yet to be confirmed. This recording will be released as a new EP under the record label.
