Influences are Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Eric Clapton, Richie Havens and Otis Redding.
What sets us apart from other bands are the diverse influences that each band member brings to the music. Some of the influences are jazz, rock, funk, blues, latin and reggae.
Common Ancestor is the brain child of front man Clive Stewart. The Jamaican born Stewart is the singer, song writer, producer and rhythm guitarist of the band. Clive embarked on the music scene in the early 1990's as a BMI recording artist. His music has been an inspiration to many as he continues to share the love one listener at a time. Blending the sounds of the islands with good old American Rock n Roll he continues to perfect his style which he so named “J’Roc”. Clive is also involved in several solo projects and has performed in many venues in the Pacific Northwest. He has made several recordings and gained some radio air time. In 2007 he had the privilege of opening for country great Crystal Gayle.
Common Ancestor has been a mainstay at many venues in the Pacific Northwest and continues to rock with a vengeance.
