"Interview with Y108"

Song 'Dig' played on the indie show with Barry Taylor Monday May 21, 2012 - along with short interview about the band.

Interview was taken place after Common&Coy placed third in Y108's spring music festival. - Barry Taylor

"Sold Out Opener for illscarlett (Hamilton)"

After two opening bands, the six guys from Common&Coy took the stage and opened the set with their high-energy single from the debut EP. The band played to a sold out crowd at the Casbah in Hamilton, and had the whole place bobbing their heads to their guitar and piano driven indie/rock original songs. The band was called back to play an encore, and had everyone singing along to Mr. Brightside by The Killers. Jay Costa, the lead singer, brought forth a great stage presence and personality to back his memorable vocals.

The band mentioned their upcoming gig with Brian Melo and didn't leave the stage without thanking the crowd numerous times for their support.

The indie style of alternative rock was enjoyed by everyone in the venue, young and old. - Amanda Toepp

Bio

Formed in 2011, the Hamilton-born, Indie-rock sextuplet, Common & Coy, have been making waves in the local music scene. Having been compared to the melodic energies of bands such as The Killers and Young the Giant, Common & Coy is taking large strides in their ever-expanding showcase across Southern Ontario.

Jamming since February, 2011, Nicholas, Jon and Dave would lay the foundations to the original four songs featured on Common & Coy’s soon-to-be-released EP, Blue, while still remaining hopeful to broaden their sound with the inclusion of more members.

Through connections between mutual friends in the music scene, Jay, James and Ty were added to the lineup, thus completing the overall sound that is Common & Coy.

Common & Coy’s first show, at the Corktown Tavern, Hamilton, Ont., saw a packed house as word quickly spread to local show promoters, which opened up even more opportunity.

Common & Coy is currently playing shows across Southern Ontario to promote their debut self-titled EP and have opened for successful Canadian acts such as IllScarlett and Brian Melo.
