Jota is the sound of a land,. of a people, os the sound from the river Ebro; this river has taken his name from the romanian time, when Iber means the people living in that territory.
Jota is a style used in the banks of the river. It is a sound centenary, has been used for all the people. After the Spanish Civil War, Franco used this sound for his purpose of some hispanity, and like flamenco, a big shadow has put it out of the eyes of the public.
But, even then, the singers and musicians, has been working in their tradition.
The Compaa Zambra is owuner of this traditio; so The singers are the best disciples of the old singer (now dead) Jesus Gracia, who is the disciple of Jose Oto, who is the disciple of a long tradition that is a trade mark of jota. Thats the same way with the dancers. And with the musicians.
Meet around the maestro (argentinian) and producer Alberto Gambino, the compaa has developed a unique style with a great respect for the old forms, but bringing it all back at home and to the XXI century
