Darkness 7" single (Howling Owl Records)

Feeling a bit camera shy

Formed in mid 2011 by Andy Death, Concubines has taken on shape with the aid of long term friend Andy White with additional help from Phil Hodder, Solomon Walter Kelly and Darren Frost. Having played in various punk, new wave and alternative bands, we decided to create a new project with a much more melodic intention drawing upon contemporary and classic artists such as; TV on the Radio, Scott Walker, Arcade Fire, Roxy Music, Yeasayer, Talking Heads and Suicide.

Lyrically the band explore the classic themes of love and loss, intending to take the listener on a journey through the variant perspectives, stages and feelings drawn from such emotions...

Recorded with Tom Dalgety (Cat's Eyes, Siouxie Sioux, the Maccabees), the new single marks a step up from the band's early bedroom recordings which received repeated airplay on XFM, BBC Radio Bristol and Amazing Radio. To date the band have played just three gigs including a support slot with British Sea Power.

The single released on 100 limited edition vinyl is due for release via Howling Owl on May 14th. Accompanying the release will be a small fanzine produced by the band. The band will support the release with a few shows across the country including a launch show at the Electricity Showrooms (London) on May 17th.
